I believe the tweet in question by Vance suggested that the Court shouldn't stop legitimate executive power, and further suggested that that power might be quick a bit broader than the Court has traditionally recognized.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Or he actually believes executive power is nearly unlimited, or at least that's the argument they're choosing to make.

The cost of the tax cuts is just what would happen if the cuts expired. I don’t think any middle class people want their tax rates to go up and neither do rich people so I’m pretty sure keeping the tax cuts will probably be a political win for Trump.
I think we pretty much agree, and thank you for clarifying about just re-upping the tax cuts in place. Still, even under that scenario, the "experts" are projecting those $5 trillion to $11 trillion numbers (at least that is my understanding).

I think Trump has a problem with those deficit hawks in the House (ala Chip Roy). Will they go for this without Elon's promised more that $1 trillion in cuts to offset the potential deficit impact? They seem to be the only repubs that are not cowed by Trump's threats of being primaried if they don't get in line. The repubs have only a 3 vote majority and Trump will get absolutely no help from the dems (unless Trump backs off of most if not all of his current executive orders). That's tight, so I don't think the extension of these tax cuts in a sure thing and is more than likely not going to happen. The repubs simply don't have the political capital to make the cuts necessary to get there. That's why they are standing by hoping that Elon does it (but he won't even get close).

But if those deficit hawks can be cowed, then we'll be looking at upping the deficit even more.

        • Dens should just call him on this and introduce legislation to annex Gaza. See how many repubs get in line.

Let's just put an end to this stupid talk.

huh? isnt it the opposite. the tax cuts cost the govt money. if extended , they will cost this much.

Hard to argue that in their effort to destroy ‘woke’, it is the employees who are hit hardest. And his administration just doesn’t care:

In its filing last week asking the judge to take action, the coalition argued that "Jobs, lives, and the social fabric of life in the Plaintiff States are at risk from the disruptions and uncertainty that have continued now a full week after entry of the Order."
"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

He's screwing with the creditworthiness of the Treasury. If the USD gets even a little shaky, our economy will 100% go into the crapper. Not mildly, not moderately, straight into the crapper. If the world decides that the US has shown it can't even be trusted to maintain the economics that are strongly in its favor due to its tendency to elect stone cold dumbasses, the value of USD will evaporate. This isn't fearmongering. This is macroeconomics.

These are the things we actually want to happen. Trump believes he can solve the world's problems. Just move them out of Gaza to [parts unknown] and let me own prime Mediterranean property. These ideas are so stupid and will blow up so spectacularly in his face.

I worry some these words and accompanying actions will put us at greater risk of terrorism.

Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups have been excluded terrorism actions in the US. I think that changes with Trump.

It is about amassing power in the name of taking on the nebulous, as Elon says "woke mind virus."

There is an element of cruelty, of sticking it to the liberals. But they are rolling back protections that were hard fought. We still need protections about discrimination and this admin wants to short circuit that and pivot to protecting Christians. From what, I don't know.

I don't like the idea that we are administratively and legislatively supposed to be "Christian."
