Seems Gaetz may have a tough time being confirmed according to what some senators are saying. This is a Trump test to see how far he can push things, IMO and to find out which senators will follow him anywhere.

5% reduction at best, and people will not be happy.Originally posted by USUC View Post
I expect hiring freezes, phasing out positions upon retirement, consolidation of "redundant" positions, and shuttering DEI programs. There is no way he is even approaching 50% of the workforce. I don't even think he can get to 25% with everyone in his admin working overtime to make it happen.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

There will certainly be a jockeying for which federal agencies will be spared. Defense related agencies probably don't get hit as much (unless you are apart of the DEI apparatus).Originally posted by Bo Diddley View PostYou could take half my workers and you wouldn't even notice. It's not going to be very successful. The administrative state is huge and a large portion of it is protected by legislation. The biggest problem with our fiscal health is entitlements. And Trump has said hands off. I hope at the very least they cut some of the red tape and some regulations.Originally posted by frank ryan
. Federal agencies exist for a reason. This might be an extreme fiscal libertarian dream, but it's going to be a mess. DEI isn't relevant.

The not so strange thing is that government administration exists because it performs tasks that people need and want (funding infrastructure, defense, intelligence, diplomacy, funding research, etc.), so taking those things away will not play well. Look at the Department of Education. It manages student assistance and providing funds for special needs children, among other things. Will those things go away if we nix the department? If so, there will be a revolution. If not, then they will be managed by the same bureaucracies located someplace else, and probably with less efficiency due to the disruption. And this doesn't even address this issue that the DOE was established by law in the 1800s. They will need to abolish it by law, or simply not fund it (I guess). This is just asking for chaos squared.
Also, all this talk about cutting DEI is ridiculous. DEI is a strategy/effort managed by HR departments inside government agencies along with everything else they do. If you don't want DEI, then tell them to do not do it. That said, some DEI, like EEO, is protected by law. You will need to change the laws to realize that. But like I said, that won't result in decreasing government footprint and/or budget savings. It's just grossly misinformed to even think so.

The plan is just to eliminate as much as possible. This is the same crew that loves the RFK being in charge of medicine and food regulation sounds swell. It's almost as someone is trying to stabilize the country. Because they are.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post
