Actually I typed in CNN Town Hall Pelosi. It gave me a lot of places to choose from. I happened to choose something that looked interesting and it ended up being LSU. I think I sent myself with the help of Bing

It becomes a gray area when you have an undocumented resident of a city who witnesses a crime but is reluctant to report or testify if they fear being turned over to immigration officials as soon as they do.

      • One of my associates just came in and told me the democrats didn't show up to Hatch's committee again today. He said Hatch suspended the rules and took the votes without them. LOL (I haven't verified it on Bing or the LSU site)

I wonder how long these Senators will keep referring to each other as "my good friend".

The extreme political polarization is not going to end well for this country. It's starting to make me wonder if there will even be a United States by the time my kids are old, or if it will eventually break part into different groups of states.

          • Yes Hatch did it. Next up: The EPA committee.

That would be my inclination, however maybe those who are independent will end up gravating to one side or the other and a real majority party will emerge.

Question on the sancutary cities and the "undocumenteds" not reporting crime reason. Why not extend that to US Citizens who have warrants out for their arrest. I assume they too are reluctant to report crimes?

Yeah, pretty much. A lot of them seem out of touch. I have a love hate relationship with the San Francisco. So many great restaurants, fun places to go, but every time I go there, it is crazy how many homeless people I see and the poverty that is there. A few years ago I remember this article about income ineequality there: http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/articl...ns-5486434.php

It bothers me that there is so much wealth that is so comfortable ignoring the poverty and homeless problem. It seems to be worse every time I go into the city, so that they claim to be a sanctuary and have this huge disparity and problem really rubs me the wrong way.

This is a huge problem. In truth, both sides of every immigration debate have some perfectly valid points (e.g., there's a lot of good elements about sanctuary cities--law enforcement is often more effective because of such protections), but instead each side makes such polarizing arguments that the problems are worsened, not resolved. And unfortunately, Trump seems to feed off of the conflict and does more to stoke the fires than douse them. This, I think, would have been perhaps Mitt's greatest strength, drawing on the best of both sides and moving toward an effective resolution. We'll never know, though.

A little confused. I agree each side makes polarizing arguments which worsens the problem. True Trump feeds off the conflict which is unfortunate. Do those on the other side also feed off the conflict? I don't think it is helpful to call those who have a different opinion racists and biggots. Those are nasty accusations and would stoke someones fire.

I am guessing she would sacrifice all of them if that means more votes for the dems.

I for one am pretty ticked about Trump's new EO that says for every new illegal we must throw a baby into a volcano!

The term is "undocumented". Illegal is an offensive term.

                        • This article is troubling, but I think it does a good job explaining what we are seeing. The "travel ban" executive order was done completely with only a couple of Trump insiders who don't have to be confirmed by any other branch of government and are completely loyal only to Trump. The state department and military knew nothing until it was announced. Seems strange. Isn't this policy something that would apply to those parts of the government? This is consistent with how the Hugo Chavez, Vladimir Putin and other dictator types take over a democratic country. It involves...

"the creation of a small group of loyal insiders, who take orders directly from the leader's inner circle and are tasked with creating chains of authority that bypass those of the existing federal government and party bureaucracies. I was disturbed, but not surprised, when Conway said two days after the inauguration that "it's really time for (Trump) to put in his own security and intelligence community."

Say what? What Constitutional authority does the president have for putting in his own security and intelligence community?

I see clear signs of Trump appointing folks to head posts the laws say he has to fill and who Congress has the right to approve and hold accountable, without any intention of those folks being much more than figureheads so his secret group of unofficial advisors who are not accountable to anyone but him are the only folks he really listens to or informs. If you don't think this is what he is doing then please explain to me why I shouldn't be concerned.

Wow, CNN calling General Kelly a liar then. I would hope that wasn't the case as he was one I trusted.

Per the Huffington post, "Office of Legal Counsel approved the language and basic lagality of the executive orders..."

That wasn't CNN. That was my commentary on the article, and I was going off of old information. Sorry about that.

But tell me why from the article I shouldn't be concerned. I'm not trying to argue. I think the Conway quote is pretty scary. If it isn't tell me why.
