I know there were some who were ok with Trump for his choices for Supreme Court justices (maybe not here as much). There is other damage he has done to the Judiciary that will have long term effects.

Exactly as qualified for a lifetime judgeship as Trump was for any public office. Makes sense. Funk's ex looks like a sterling candidate for this judgeship by comparison.Originally posted by chrisrenrut View PostI know there were some who were ok with Trump for his choices for Supreme Court justices (maybe not here as much). You all do realize that this same thing happens from the Dems as well. Judges with "limited resumes" get appointments frequently. This is a dishonest framing. Judge the judicial philosophy, temperament, or belief systems all you want, but this is counterproductive especially when the Dems appoint inexperienced judges in the name of diversity.

Not sure if people know this, but most judges don't have judicial experience before they become judges. Similarly, I had no legal experience before I passed the bar, but they somehow let me slip by!
I just checked the CVs of the judges on the Nevada federal bench. The 6 of the last 7 judges nominated and confirmed (all by Obama or Biden) came from private practice and had no judicial experience. The one with judicial experience was a state judge for 2 years before going to the bench. They were all good lawyers, so maybe that's a valid criticism against this woman (I have no idea if she's good or not).Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Don’t worry about all the federalists society nominations because the Dems nominate coloreds!Originally posted by USUC View PostYou all do realize that this same thing happens from the Dems as well. This is madness. Honestly you are just being crazy obtuse at this point.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
Democratic house and and a slim republican senate majority would be great. Each side keeps the other from doing really stupid things.

You are acting like the currently constituted GOP is a rational organization with center right candidates willing to debate inflation, abortion, climate, etc.
A slim GOP senate would mean, JD Vance and Hershel Walker and Oz win in 2 months, you’ve lost your mind.

America, IMO, is best when the two dominate parties are strong. There’s a strong argument for split government, especially with a dem in the presidency and a dem controlled chamber. That’s probably America at its finest. And we’ve seen glimpses of that over the last two years. Big wins that most Americans believe in and support.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
Hey Captain Hyperbole. Welcome back.
But these next 2-3 elections are not times for split government. We need an eradication of MAGA and a rebirth of a strong center right party that actually has principles and a platform.
And the libertarians here? GFY, have you seen any of the tweets your party sent out about John McCain/Zelensky/or terrorists in America over the last month?

But you are showing your ignorance by lumping all "libertarians" in with the LP of NH. They are vicious trolls and are even more extreme than the already extreme Mises caucus that just overtook the LP. Most small l libertarians are not Mises kooks and we will see the fall of the LP as the 3rd most popular party in this country with them at the helm. But I never was a member of The LP and don't care about them. I'm a directional libertarian/ hayekian. I advocate for both parties becoming more limited government.

But he is correct in that those three are next level terrible senate candidates.
As long as we are just wishing, it would be cool if they all lost and the democrats still somehow don't get complete control."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

They also retweeted Tim Poole within the last 24 hours. The LP of NH isn’t an outlier.
But please educate us more on Rothbardianism.
