I think Biden should cancel the debates. There is no upside for him.

From the Internet of Beefs, I still find this description the most apt of what Trump is doing.

TLDR; Social media (and maybe a body politic in general) is dominated by follower (mook) count, which produces audience capture, which results in the strongest influencers winning by figuring out what communication grows follower count. Commitment and consistency to a world view hampers the collection of followers.

Conflict on the IoB is shaped not by the strategic intentions of its nominal leaders (who largely have none, beyond keeping the conflict profitably alive and growing), but by emotional energy flows in the field of mooks. The best knights on the IoB, such as Trump, operate by an entirely reactive philosophy: “there go my mooks; I must find out where they are going, so I can get out in front and lead them.”

Actual belief is a liability on the IoB. The more a knight of the IoB genuinely believes in whatever principle they think they are fighting for, the less effective they are as wranglers of fickle mook energy. Sincerely ideological players routinely overestimate the depth of intellectual coherence required to accumulate and wield mook power, producing nerdy intellectual edifices where mere covfefe gestures would not just do the job, but actually do it better.

Come on man, this concern of ours is just like that of the birthers. Completely unfounded and crazy!

You guys circle jerking because Trump is Trumping, lol. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Trump is going to cry foul, file lawsuits, and claim the election was rigged. But when he loses, he's going to leave office in January, and it won't even require force to make that happen. Sit back, relax and be glad that he is raising these "issues" now, as they will have lost their luster by November.

                I really hope you’re right.

EDIT: Your equating concerns about Trump and these shenanigan tips birthers remains bullshit.

DH is correct in that it is highly unlikely that we will need to haul djt out of the WH by force if he loses. And it is great that djt is raising these issues early so that as much of this as possible can be handled now. Not that smart on djt's part, but he's obviously the type that eats the marshmallow as soon as it hits the table.

That said, djt's consistent attack on the process, even taking Nevada to court this early, should be a concern and doesn't bode well for a "peaceful" transition of power. This simply undermines our institutions, particularly in the minds of at least a third of the population. Not a good move. I'm sure we will continue to see aggressive efforts to limit voting and then attack the process through the courts.

                  Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                  • Facebook removes post by Trump for the first time as social media giant toughens stance on misleading political speech

Facebook on Wednesday said it removed President Trump’s post of a video clip from a Fox News interview in which he said that children are “almost immune” from covid-19.

“This video includes false claims that a group of people is immune from COVID-19 which is a violation of our policies around harmful COVID misinformation,” said Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone.

This is the first time Facebook has taken down anything from the president for violating the company’s policies on covid misinformation.

The fuckery with the census should be a pretty major scandal and would be in any other administration. Sabotaging the postal service about now could also play into his narrative about problems with voting by mail and lead to delays in getting an accurate vote count.

Trump has a habit of floating absurd ideas that most people dismiss as manifestations of his 70 year old toddler mindset, and then after the conversation is started trying to implement them.

                      • If Donald Trump even hints at not leaving the WH after he loses the election I'm guessing he gets impeached and convicted pretty quickly.

Nope. They are equally grounded in nonsense and equally unlikely to have any bearing on anything of import.

It's crazy to me to even consider that there are people who think Trump will try to stay in office by force. Like I said in another thread - he'll have some crazies tell him he's right - but he won't have the backing of any sort of meaningful force. And I'm sure most of his support would disappear quick. They'll be glad to have him file lawsuits and cry foul - and then he'll leave in January like he's supposed to. Crying as he does, and insisting whatever he has to insist to make himself feel like it was his choice and his decision.

But I've got less faith that Trump will try to remain in the white house by force than I have belief that Obama was born in Africa. And I never believed Obama was born in Africa.

                              That's already bullshit.

You threw the word force in there. Cheat, lie, steal for an election? You bet he'd up for it. Refuse to concede? He's already prepping for it. Encourage civil unrest? He's already said those types of things. As much as I appreciate your moderate tone, Eddie, you've got an odd habit of consistently bending over backward to mute or downplay criticism of Trump. These aren't normal times, and he's not a normal person or leader. His behaviors haven't moderated as so many on here predicted, they've gotten worse.
