Yeah, can't have President Trump messing with the sanctions; way too much power.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI agree with this. Preventing the President from making changes might bother me with pretty much any past president, but with this loose cannon I can understand the need for it.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

And that's all you can say. That speaks volumes. George w Bush wasn't particularly popular, yet his supporters could make intelligent arguments in his support. Not with Trump.Originally posted by Shaka View PostFor the record if I were president I would also spend the weekend golfing.

Start by watching the Senate Intelligence Committee's hearingsOriginally posted by creekster View PostFrank, this is an incredibly patronizing question/comment.
But, since you have raised this issue numerous times, I would like to ask you to tell me, using only primary sources (IOW testimony from congressional hearings or final reports from investigations, etc., as opposed to reports of such things) what, exactly, the Russians did in the election. Given that you hold yourself out as being better informed than most, what precisely do the primary sources show? Becasue apart from this, the rhetoric on the issue is so politicized on both sides that it has virtually no value. My impression is, however, that precious few specifics are known and most of the commentary is specualtion, hyperbole or both. My mind is open but I want actual information, not commentary full of guesses masquerading as reporting.

It's more than just Flake being willing to correct Trump when he's gone slightly astray. It's actually a very easy call for him because Flake is principled and he and Trump are essentially ideological opposites who currently find themselves in the same party somehow.Originally posted by Shaka View PostAgreed. There are select Republicans who will check The Donald when necessary.
Flake is a libertarian who trusts free markets and believes in individual rights. Flake would defend the first amendment to no end. Trump, yeah, not so much. Trump has made unseating Flake his #1 priority in next year's Senate races, even more than any democrat. There is a reason for that. The authoritarian populist nationalists Trump gets his current ideology from can't find anyone in the Senate they have less in common with, even in the other party.Last edited by BlueK; 08-02-2017, 09:06 PM.

It wasn't an attempt at an intelligent argument. It was a lighthearted comment even though it's lose to the truth. If I were president I'd probably spend a decent amount of time on a golf course. Everyone has a pressure release and golfing is one of mine. They other is boating which I'd also do if I were president.Originally posted by BlueK View PostAnd that's all you can say. Absolutely. Acosta is a tool in that exchange. Miller's an idiot enough, he has sufficient rope to hang himself.Originally posted by old_gregg View Poststephen miller is sn unqualified dickhead. similarly, acosta needs to shut his pie hole."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

Haven't you already done so? Isn't this what you are talking about when you ask people what sources of information THEY rely on for their conclusions? If so, then please share with me and others less well-informed exactly what you have read/heard from this and other primary sources that demonstrate that, apart from his boorish behavior and the keystone cop quality of his foreign policy team, Trump has taken improper steps undermining American security or interest vis a vis Russia. It should be easy, really. Unless it's not becasue such conclusions only exist in inferences and implications which may be reasonably interpreted in alternative ways.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostStart by watching the Senate Intelligence Committee's hearingsPLesa excuse the tpyos.
