It was backdated to when Germany pledged to spend more on defense, years before NATO stipulated that member countries should spend 2% of GDP on defense. And then Trump added a few billion dollars for interest, just for good measure.

The 2 percent is a goal, not a requirement, that NATO members have until 2024 to meet. Trump and his minions are dipshits.

Germany didn’t receive NATO invoice from Trump: government

A spokesman for the German government on Monday denied media reports that U.S. President Donald Trump handed a multibillion-euro invoice to Chancellor Angela Merkel when they met in Washington earlier this month.


“Reports that President Trump had presented the federal chancellor with a kind of bill with a concrete billion sum are not true,” spokesman Steffen Seibert said at a press conference.


According to a report in the Sunday Times, Trump handed Merkel a bill of more than $300 billion for money Germany supposedly owed to NATO. The gesture was “outrageous,” the paper quoted an unnamed German minister as saying.

DICK CHENEY: 'No question' Russia meddled in the US election, and it could be 'an act of war'

In a wide-ranging speech at the Economic Times' Global Business Summit on Monday, former US Vice President Dick Cheney spoke unequivocally about Russia's meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.


Cheney said there were a "rising number of threats" in the world that, beyond national security, "even pose a threat to the globalization movements you're here to talk about today."


Segueing into talking about Russian President Vladimir Putin, Cheney warned of Russia's aggressive actions.


"I think he has designs on the Baltics. ... We know he wanted Crimea — he took it," said Cheney, who pointed to previous Russian cyber campaigns against Baltic states and Russia's recent moves to nuclearize its European enclave of Kaliningrad.


On the subject of the 2016 election, Cheney said Russia attacked the US in a possible act of war.
