I am in favor ofl this tax policy. All who favor a progressive income tax should be allowed to pay the highest marginal rate, whereas those who believe otherwise, should pay the lowest.

So JL believes appeals to hypocrisy are irrelevant. If so, there will be very little political commentary.

"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

come on. I don't need the media to explain to me how Trump is completely unqualified and is a complete moron in this important job. All he has to do is talk into a microphone with the cameras rollling or send out a tweet to judge it for myself.

I'm glad the market is doing well for now. It won't stay that way when the trade wars start. I hope the Congress can prevent that from happening.

Irrelevant. Pelosi has very little influence over anything right now.

          And I do vote Libertarian.

That could be said about democrats in general.

We don't need a robust economy in order to take care of all the entitlements. The rich have plenty of money we can pass around.
Bad immigration policies do and will affect jobs and the economy.

Which is why I worry more about republicans in congress who go against their better judgment to give into Trump's stupidity on things.

The current coverage and feeding frenzy is of no value.

Covering policy and regulations could be of value if it is done analytically not just polemically.

Arguing about Trump's dignity (none), qualifications (minor), forthrightness (absent), hypocrisy (apparent), is merely a device to stop any policy changes from the standard statist policies and regulations. Some of the proposals or at least issues have merit.

Tax revision has merit. Specific proposals need revision.

ACA repeal or revision. The PPACA is very flawed. Changes are needed. Current proposal is flawed.

Immigration. I disagree with the order of events. We need a policy that is clear and coherent. We need work visas for those who wish to work in the US, and the path to citizenship needs to be reasonable and clear. Once that is decided, then we close the borders in a most efficient means, i.e., guards, not fences.

Administrative Reform and Cutbacks. The Administrative State has grown disproportionately to its value, and it significantly impairs the economy and development of new ideas by creating unnecessary barriers to entry favoring large enterprises over small business.

These are valuable issues on the table that are ignored because so much nonsense is being discussed.

I agree with the things on your list. All of them, really.

The problem with your last sentence is that it is mostly Trump who is stirring up the nonsense. I think he likes the conflict.

Also, your immigration ideas are spot on. Unfortunately Trump has bought completely into the "foreigners are bad" ideas of his friend Steve Bannon and his club of white supremacists. So any meaningful work on sound immigration policy won't happen under his watch. "Slam our country's doors the hell shut" isn't reasonable or beneficial policy.

Agreed and we should be having a good debate on that instead of his frickin 1040. I will agree with you. Some of his assinine tweets also get us off track talking about the real issues.

                        lol.

You just keep us focused on the real issues, ok?

You know often a choice has to be made.

Good guy you can partner up with. You will do OK, but never really have a successful business.

Asshole who you can partner up with and just shake your head at the things he says, but his business instincts are good and you will have a successful business.

Value judgement, yea go with the good guy. I choose the a-hole.

Wish I could, but this is kind of a posting blitz because I won't have much time over the next 10 days. Baseball watching and golf. I will though catch up everyday on what you anti-Trumpers come up with next.

                            • I used to work with a guy who was really into conspiracy theories, sites like Breitbart and other extreme right, and "alt-right" blogs, and of course a huge Trump guy from the beginning. It was affecting his view of reality. He thought Putin and Russia were really the good guys, that we can't really believe what we hear about North Korea -- for all we know it's a great place and the media is lying about it. (I told him to take a trip there and make sure to take a Bible with him to see what happens. It temporarily shook him back to the real world for a second, I think).

Anyway, he was also religious, but in a very apocalyptic way. I think people who buy into this stuff it seems go so far as cheering on world chaos and think it's good because maybe it means bringing on the second coming or something. As I've read things Steve Bannon has said and written, this is basically his world view, without the religious attachment.
