  • Jackboots (and facemasks) on the streets of major cities. Rounding up people based on race, language, and homelessness. Sending people without due process to concentration camps.

I know people deride Godwin's law, but it's getting hard to ignore.

And you have Stephen Miller giving speeches out there about how great everything would be without immigrants. You'd have a better job, never have to wait at the emergency room, your kid's school would have lots of resources and not be overcrowded, no crime. I don't see much difference between that and the nazis in the 30s blaming the Jews for everything.

      • I rarely pay attention to politics anymore. I listen to some political podcasts I trust a couple times a week and that's it. I'm so disgusted by the GOP and anyone in Trump's orbit. They are either low IQ or have sold their ideals to stay in power knowing full well the economic policies of Trump are disastrous. I'm disappointed to see populism infiltrate the democrats as well. Just bad policy and immorality all around. So I now just listen to music, hang out with the family, and watch baseball. Excited for football to start.

Good strategy. Otherwise you would come understand that Laura Loomer has significant pull with Trump and MAGA.

And then you would just get depressed.

          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

          • You work, apply, and qualify for a federal law enforcement job taking down really bad people and now are walking a beat harassing people over smoking because Donald Trump "is tired of it."

            • Where is this guy's due process? Godwin's law what it is, this is still like a concentration camp.

When federal officials announced the opening of a new detention center in Florida for undocumented immigrants dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz," they said its focus would be on rounding up individuals with a criminal record – people that President Trump and border czar Tom Homan have called "the worst of the worst." However, many people who have been locked up at the Florida Everglades detention center do not have criminal records, CBS News has learned.

Some of Alligator Alcatraz's detainees are "dreamers," like Edgar, who is among more than half a million beneficiaries of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, or DACA, the federal program that allowed undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to live and work in the country without fear of deportation.

Edgar arrived in the U.S. in 2001 when he was 13 years old, and today is the father of three U.S. citizens. In June, he was detained following a traffic stop and became one of the first detainees sent to "Alligator Alcatraz."

Edgar and his lawyer told CBS News that they do not know why he's being detained. When asked why he thinks he's still in a detention facility, Edgar said he believes "it's like a torture and try to try to make you deport yourself."

Of the estimated 100,000 people who were deported earlier this year, 70,583 were convicted criminals, according to another ICE document obtained by CBS News last month. Most of the documented infractions were for traffic or immigration offenses. It's unclear how many of them were part of the DACA program.

              • For want of a more apt thread, I'll post here this two-minute clip from Reagan's last presidential speech where he touches on the vital importance of welcoming immigrants to our country, and condemning those who would close its doors. The message is eloquent, and something that the Trump cabal flatly rejects.

                  Well said, Ronnie.

Oh yeah. For sure. I'll be honest and say I didn't agree with tons of his economic plans that others saw as triumphs.

I didn't like his stance with a lot of labor policy, but you couldn't doubt that he did care about the country. He valued his friendship with the democratic speaker of the house, Tip O'Neill.

He is probably rolling over in his grave about selling out the country to Russia.

And even worse that it's a stupid, weak, economically backwards Russia.
