So now there is essentially no such thing as an illegal order as long as it's official? What goes Goatnapper think about that? If that’s not what this ruling means please explain.
There are a great many illegal orders. Some will be nullified, invalidated, or vacated; others will be limited, cabined, or confined. But, you won't put the president in jail for issuing them.
Our liberal minority is developing a hell of a talent for hyperbole. I mean I had to get quite a ways through this before concluding it was satire. It is getting tougher and tougher to distinguish these days.

Goatnapper thinks Jeff Lebowski should take a day to backpack above the Lower Lake on Palisades Creek along the South Fork of the Snake River and then fly fish Palisades Creek between the lower and upper lake. Restrictions to protect Yellowstone Cutthroat spawning end today-and word on the street was as of Friday the action on any dry fly resembling any critter was hotter than Frank Ryan whenever Uncle Ted doesn't show Hunter Biden the Christlike love all children of God deserve.
Other than that Goatnapper laments that reasonable discussion has come to this point that our collective morality as a people affords us electing individuals where we must have these discussions. I worry about any government entity being afforded too much power and protection. I think whether or not an illegal order can be considered "official duty" is going to be problematic over time and how folks feel about whether or not that is an "official duty" will likely be dictated by where they sit. Our problem is our lack of consensus and our lack of morality. Neither will serve us well.
So with that-everyone should go fly fishing! Oh ya-and Justice Sotomayer ought to just pull the string!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Do you agree a president shouldn't be able to prosecuted for official acts ... like discussing how to overturn an election ?
I am skeptical Trump could kill his political rivals with his penis.

Yeah, but I bet he can derail a train with his penis...

As a son of the 208, I also agree that JL should fly fish the south fork and Palisades... mighty good fishing. Henry's fork use to be good as well. I also love the green below the flaming gorge, where my father's side of the family is from, but that is in mostly Utah (and Wyoming).

I fish the Henry's Fork in either Box Canyon (the run that starts below the Island Park Reservoir and ends at Last Chance) or the Warm River to Ashton Reservoir run 2-3 days each summer. I tis still great fly fishing. I also try to get on the South Fork, usually starting just below the Palisades Reservoir Dam, at least 1 day each summer. Admittedly, I am not real good but my experience up on the stretch of Palisades Creek between the two lakes was the best dry fly fishing I have ever experienced. Now perhaps there is that many Cutthroat due to them moving into the creek for spawning or because it hasn't been fished much due to it being closed during June for the spawning-but it was pretty insane. I plan to go back in August for a day or two as my instinct is it is that good mostly because you either have to ride a horse or hike the 5.5 miles from the trailhead to get there and that keeps the number of folks fishing it pretty low.
The guides on the Henry's Fork consider it the Yankees Stadium of fly fish guiding. Hell, half the fish you land are Mountain Whitefish and that species is not particularly robust and to have that high a population of whitefish you have to have a really healthy fishery.

I don't agree that discussing how to overturn an election is necessarily an official act. For that matter, neither did the Court.
The Court looked at lots of different kinds of actions Trump took. Only one, discussions with Justice Department officials regarding the potential investigation or prosecution of election fraud cases, was found to be an official act (as even the prosecution agreed) and consequentially subject to immunity. The idea of not throwing officials in jail based on their decisions to investigate or prosecute crimes is pretty well-established; I don't have problems with immunity extending there.
Other actions, like discussions with the Vice President or campaign officials or tweets to the general public, were not ruled to be official acts, though the Court did not make rulings on whether they were official or unofficial actions. I think there is some fair criticism that the Court should have decided those points one way or the other, but I also appreciate the decision to hand that back down to the lower courts to determine (which appellate courts do not do as often as they should).
