An oncologist I work with got back from fishing the Salmon River. He's still in full swoon. Are you experienced there?Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View Post
I fish the Henry's Fork in either Box Canyon (the run that starts below the Island Park Reservoir and ends at Last Chance) or the Warm River to Ashton Reservoir run 2-3 days each summer. I tis still great fly fishing. I also try to get on the South Fork, usually starting just below the Palisades Reservoir Dam, at least 1 day each summer. Admittedly, I am not real good but my experience up on the stretch of Palisades Creek between the two lakes was the best dry fly fishing I have ever experienced. Now perhaps there is that many Cutthroat due to them moving into the creek for spawning or because it hasn't been fished much due to it being closed during June for the spawning-but it was pretty insane. I plan to go back in August for a day or two as my instinct is it is that good mostly because you either have to ride a horse or hike the 5.5 miles from the trailhead to get there and that keeps the number of folks fishing it pretty low.
The guides on the Henry's Fork consider it the Yankees Stadium of fly fish guiding. Hell, half the fish you land are Mountain Whitefish and that species is not particularly robust and to have that high a population of whitefish you have to have a really healthy fishery.

I am not. It is a long way from me. I have a cabin up in Island Park so I spend most of my time up there between the South Fork, Henry's Fork and the various tributaries thereof. I am pretty friendly with the track & XC coaches from Challis and they are dropping into our conference so I may get a chance to fish it when we play VB or FB games up that way. My BIL/business partner and I have often kicked around the idea of doing a guided fishing/rafting trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon and my understanding it the fishing on that stretch is fabulous. When we finally get that done I will return and report. My instinct is your friend likely fished the steelhead or salmon runs and probably was somewhere in the Frank Church River of No Return wilderness which runs across the central part of Idaho going from about Riggins, ID (home of Leighton Vander Esch) to Grangeville, ID. I have yet to get a chance to fish that stretch under any circumstances and certainly not during either the salmon or steelhead runs. I have rafted on the Salmon quite a few times just past North Fork-and have plans to take the young men up there in a couple of weeks all going well. I have caught pikeminnow (in a previous less politically correct age they were called squawfish) spin casting the same route we raft but have never caught any trout. Trout fishing on the Salmon River struggles after Challis, ID as between all the various geo-thermal pools dumping warmer water into it or its tributaries and how far the Salmon spreads out near Challis it gets too warm for good trout spawning habitat.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I mean, this is the exact same argument that Trump's lawyers gave to the SCOTUS when they were arguing for absolute immunity. So given this short clip and the 'SCOTUS gives Trump broad immunity...' banner of the clip, I assume we're missing the context of the convo.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostDems are convinced that "kill your political opponents" is an official act of being president...

I'll have to ask him about the details. For some reason the Middle Fork of the Salmon river is in my head, though I'm not sure if it's because that's what came up on a google search after we talked or if he said it. Whatever, that sounds like a place I really need to visit.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View Post

Hey, as long as the order goes through the official channels it's an official act. Not true? Hey Joe, how about testing out the theory?Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostDems are convinced that "kill your political opponents" is an official act of being president...

Killing your political rival doesn't strike me as something that has any reasonable chance of being classified as an "official" act of the presidency.Originally posted by BlueK View Post
Thanks to SCOTUS this is actually a rational argument.

I think the context you're looking for is in the lower right-hand corner of the image, where the contents are certified as being unfit for serious consumption.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post
