So I have a question. Those M113 APCs we are reportedly sending to Ukraine, how do they stack up against Russian BTRs, BMDs, and other models?
That's a question for Napper. I can only say that the three we got when I was in the Engineers were garbage. But I think we got really old hand-me-downs. They were always down with maint problems. Hopefully we gave them some new equipment.

      Well, there you go.

Russia says ammo aboard famed warship detonated
Ammunition stockpiles aboard a Russian ship that was famously defied by Ukrainian troops early in the war have detonated, according to a statement from the Russian defence ministry.

A fire caused the explosion on the Moskva, the statement in Russian media said, adding that all sailors had evacuated beforehand.

The statement said: "The cruiser Moskva's ammunition has detonated as a result of a fire on the warship.

"The vessel is seriously damaged. The entire crew have been evacuated. The cause of the blaze is being investigated."

It did not specify the cause of the fire.

But earlier on Wednesday, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea Fleet was hit by Ukrainian rockets, according to the governor of Odesa.

Ukrainian officials said Russia was struggling to rescue the estimated 510 crew members on board.

The Moskva warship rose to fame early in the war when Ukrainian defenders of Snake Island refused calls to surrender and told the Russian ship to "go to hell", before they were ultimately taken prisoner.

Do we have anyone here that can read Russian?

            From google translate:

It is reported that two missiles "Neptune" just hit the cruiser "Moskva"

            Anton Gerashchenko:
“They say that today two orc sailors smoked in the wrong place on the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet - the Moskva missile cruiser. Here, bang bang rattle, something exploded. And the cruiser "matskva" almost sank.

In the next year it will not be combat-ready. Why is the ancient Roman God of the Seas Neptune here? Nothing to do with it! )"

It turned out that the life jackets on the burning missile cruiser Moskva were expired like dry rations. I don't think it's a big deal, because Russian sailors are shit, and shit doesn't sink.

This is not a video of the Moskva burning cruiser, but the story of this missile strike and the Ukrainian Neptune missiles is worth listening to.

Arestovich says that there are now 510 crew members on the Moskva cruiser, the cruiser is on fire, and the stormy sea does not allow a rescue operation to be carried out. The causes of the fire are bad luck, the human factor, in general, everything is like in Belgorod.

            Odessans say yes
And they know they launched rockets

The six-barreled rapid-fire cannon of the Moskva missile cruiser turned out to be not so rapid-fire

Nation of Cossacks-characterists. Zakhisnik Zmіїnogo sent the fucking cruiser Moscow. The cruiser Moskva itself is depicted on the new shipping mart of Ukrposht. The stamp can be attacked by the burning Kremlin.

"Moscow" on fire: the cruiser with the "Volcanoes" is on fire after meeting with the "Neptune" - some more details and conclusions about the missile attack on the flagship of the Russian fleet

Interception of a conversation between the Russian military, which confirms that the Moskva cruiser was shot down

So awesome. I get so happy when I see Russian casualties. I know fundementally that's not a good look, but this is where I am right now.

I am similarly conflicted, and even though the Commies are a bunch of thugs, it's not really the loss of life that I'm really celebrating.

Not Napper, but had one that was a fire support vehicle from my FST days as well as my mortar platoon mounted their 120s on them. They are old and not used for APC purposes in the US inventory anymore at least they were not in 1AD in 1997 - 2001, but for other purposes as noted. They were replaced by the Bradley Fighting Vehicles prior to my entry into active duty. The base armor is not much, will not stop a .50 cal direct hit or obviously anything larger. But it is a safer way of moving troops than a dueceandahalf or 5 ton, or even an up armored HMMWV.

                            Major.

Likely a strike by Ukraine’s Neptune anti-ship missile. Major loss for the Russian navy.

So from those of us who used them, it sounds like they're not that great. I googled it, and production stopped in 2007. So they're used for sure.
