    • I love stuff like this:

British pub landlord reaches Ukraine with aid minibus

A British pub landlord has arrived in Ukraine with a minibus of aid after a 1,000-mile (1,600km) journey from the UK.

Tom Littledyke, a former Royal Marine, set off from Dorset in south-west England on Monday.

After dropping supplies in Poland, he said he made the "terrifying" drive over the border to Lviv in western Ukraine.

He is now using his 16-seater minibus to ferry people from the city's train station back to the Polish border.

For sure. And that's a team I would fight for.

          • I understand that this a near lost cause and things are going to get worse, but reports like this make me so happy.

Yeah Ukrainians, just submit already like good Libertarians.

That was spot on. It's a real struggle sometimes to exercise our equipment, particularly when we only train one weekend per month, but we do it. Our first generation of CTIS was garbage and lead to too many maintenance problems. I think we've got the kinks worked out now, and they're really handy to have.

                          • I guess Zelensky now wants to live to fight another day...

                            • Zelensky says he doesn't want Ukraine's history to be "a legend about 300 Spartans."
                            • The Ukrainian president on Thursday called for peace during a press conference.
                            • Meanwhile, delegations from Ukraine and Russia met for a second round of diplomatic negotiations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday said he doesn't want Ukraine's history to be "a legend about 300 Spartans," and called for an end to Russia's ongoing war.

"I don't want Ukraine's history to be a legend about 300 Spartans," Zelensky said during a press conference, which was translated for a broadcast.

Zelensky appears to be referring to the Battle of Thermopylae during Ancient Greece in which a small group of Greek soldiers was outnumbered in the face of their Persian enemy.

"I am so confident with our military and with our people defending our state, because our state is very special and our people are very special," Zelensky said. "I don't want them destroyed, I want them all to remain."

                              The US did.

WASHINGTON ― U.S. President Joe Biden has authorized the State Department to send another $350 million in weapons, including Javelin anti-tank weapons, to help Ukrainian forces fight back the ongoing Russian invasion.

With Ukraine struggling to repel Russia’s tanks, bombers, helicopters and missiles, the new tranche would supply Ukrainian forces with anti-armor and anti-aircraft systems, ammunition for firearms and body armor, according to the State Department.

This marks the third time Biden has used his presidential drawdown authority to send emergency security assistance from U.S. stockpiles to Ukraine, and it brings the total commitment of U.S. security assistance to $1 billion for this year.
