How many Swiss gun owners take their guns with them everywhere they go? I doubt less restrictive gun laws are the primary reason for the lower crime rate.

Actually the Swiss are relatively high compared to the other European countries.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I don't take my gun everywhere I go. However, if I know I am going to a bad part of town or where my life might be threaten I might take my gun. Not always but I have the option, which is good.

Now, I am guessing the average Swiss criminal knows that all his Swiss neighbors most likely have a gun. They may or may not have it when they go out. However, does the bad guy risk showing up to a public place any opening fire knowing that a high percentage of his fellow Swiss citizens might gun him down shortly after getting maybe his second or third round off? I would venture to say not. If he wanted to kill a lot Swiss people in a public place I would guess he would more likely use a bomb.

Where are you going where you know your life may be threatened?

What about protecting yourself though? Don't let the idiots distract you. Focus on yourself and what you would do and what resources and experience you would want to have at your disposal in a similar situation.

Would be interesting to compare statistics on the frequency of collateral damage from concealed carry permit holders acting irresponsibly or foolishly relative to the number of legitimate self defense success stories. I have a feeling the ninnies won't like the outcome.

Then what he saying doesn't make sense. He said he DOESN'T take it everywhere, might MIGHT take it if he is going somewhere where his life might be threatened. So that is kind of confusing.

Agree. He may feel like certain environments are inherently safer than others. Maybe large public gatherings are more risky in his eyes. I don't know. Everybody is different, and there certainly isn't any kind of science to predicting when or where some loony may try to kill people.

I just think it's pretty clear that the world would be a safer place if more people had more weapons.

That's your prerogative I guess. I figure lots of people already have them as it is now. I think I'll invent a machine where I push a button that makes all weapons disappear. Then I won't have to worry about being shot to shit at the movies.

The problem with outlawing guns is that the bad guys will still have guns, and the good guys won't have guns anymore.

You don't need guns. The police will protect you.

Yes, I read somewhere the bad guys have figured out a way around those "press the button to make all weapons disappear" machines.
