How did he get in the theater with all that equipment, and nobody noticing? He must have forced his way in there.

    Terrible news.

I think it had a lot to do with what SG said above rather than forcing his way in.

It's so predictable that a bunch of Texans start pontificating how this wouldn't happen in their state. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luby's_massacre

Outside of living under strict marshal law, these sorts of tragedies may not be avoidable. Somebody, somehow goes whacko, and everybody wishes to pontificate how it could have been prevented.

Laws and restrictions won't eliminate insanity.

The Luby's massacre happened before it was legal to concealed carry into public places. Bone up on your Texas gun history.

Edit: I'll make it easy on you. Here is the story...

              [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzanna_Hupp"]Suzanna Hupp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

On Wednesday, October 16, 1991, Hupp and her parents were having lunch at the Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen. She had left her gun in her car to comply with Texas state law at the time, which prohibited carrying a concealed weapon. When George Hennard drove his truck into the cafeteria and opened fire on the patrons, Hupp instinctively reached into her purse for her weapon, but it was in her vehicle. Her father, Al Gratia, tried to rush Hennard and was shot in the chest. As the gunman reloaded, Hupp escaped through a broken window and believed that her mother, Ursula Gratia, was behind her. Hennard put a gun to her mother's head as she cradled her mortally wounded husband, and pulled the trigger, killing her as well.

Hupp's mother and father were killed along with twenty-one other persons. Hennard also wounded some twenty others. As a survivor of the Luby's massacre, Hupp testified across the country in support of concealed-handgun laws. She said that if there had been a second chance to prevent the slaughter, she would have violated the Texas law and carried the handgun inside her purse into the restaurant.

I just read that this SOB has booby trapped his apartment? My hell. What a psychopath.

It's as if he believes he was a villain in a movie.

I guess the area surrounding his apartment has been evacuated.

Does Colorado have the death penalty? I am not a fan of these guys getting interviewed and media attention.

How sad innocent lives can be taken so easily.

Do you need a license to carry that in Texas?

Sure it wouldn't have stopped the initial shots and maybe it could have escalated further, but my hunch tells me this incident wouldn't have been as bad if a dozen people in the audience had a handgun at their disposal at that minute.

I'm more than open to my hunch being shown to be wrong.

I never said Colorado doesn't have a CC law. I figured they did. I'm just saying there's a stark difference between a Coloradoan and a Texan. There are multiple gun & ammo stores near my neighborhood. In fact, there might be more gun/ammo stores than there are stores that will buy your gold.

I'm open to being wrong as I know I'm making a wide generalization.

Maybe the shooter was the only one in the theater with a permit.

The 3 month old was treated and released. Probably just a secondary injury when the parents were scrambling to get out. Thank heavens.
