  • Forever 21 reducing work hours due to ObamaCare

    http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/n...rs-due-to.html

Policymic.com reported Forever 21 will limit non-management workers’ hours to 29.5 a week, which is a hair below the 30-hour minimum ObamaCare considers full-time employment. The changes begin Aug. 31, according to the policymic.com story.

    • In the European Countries is there much entrpreneurship that goes on? Is there a stat on how many people are employed by the big corporations compared to small businesses and how does that compare to the US?

It seems to me the more we move to government intervention and control, only the big boys have the clout to hang in there and compete. I have seen a couple of instances lately where the big companies are squeezing the smaller companies who sub contract for them to the bone. Not only do they hammer them on bids, only later to ask for reductions and then not pay for over 120 days. It gets harder and harder for the small guy to make a profit when he/she is getting squeezed by both the government and big business.

These data suggest Europe is doing better than the US:

In short, small business's share of the U.S. economy is slowly shrinking and is less significant than in many European economies. Despite our rhetoric about the importance of small business in America, many European nations have a better approach to encouraging small business than we do. Their lower taxes, lower regulatory barriers, greater access to capital, and more positive beliefs in the value of small business suggest our policymakers should learn about encouraging small business from their counterparts across the pond.

It's probably our socalized Obamacare that is causing this. We can't keep up with Europe and their free market health care system.

The last two companies I have work for have done this. you have to get proof that your spouse does not work and cannot get benefits at where they currently are. it is a total pain in the ass.

That's okay, they can just get more efficient or something.

Where's Cali? He would point out that without obamacare it would be like a $200m spike in health care costs for Delta. It's one of those the glass is half full/empty things.

Yes, it is not like we can get more efficient in our health care spending or something...

                      • I heard somewhere that small, homogeneous populations have lower healthcare costs, because everyone has similar health profiles, and health care budgets can be allocated efficiently. I'd like to see the US compared to Russia. France I think would be a good comparison to the US without innovation and without lawyers.

Yeah, but the Beehive State doesn't have its own healthcare system like Switzerland does. (The WOW doesn't count.)
