The old "bad apple insurance" fallback. If this was such a salient point for Obama, then why didn't he use that to promote Obamacare instead of "if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan, period."?Originally posted by VirginiaCougar View PostOr at least serious gaps in coverage. Really says something, doesn't it? Interesting reading, by the way.
It's because a big majority of the country was fine with their health insurance and they would have known that claim was pure bullshit. Obamacare would have never, ever passed if everyone knew that 50% of the privately insured people in this country were going to lose their insurance.
And what gaps are you referring to? You mean maternity coverage for a 50 year old single guy? Substance abuse counseling? And in exchange for fewer gaps such as birth control pills for 60 year old women, people on 80-20 plans will now have 60-40 plans with higher deductibles and higher premiums. But at least they now will have the privilege of subsidizing all the alcoholics and drug addicts out there. Additionally, in order to make sure the premiums don't completely spiral out of control, many of these exchange plans like the ones in California are severely limiting what doctors their customers can see.
I'm pretty sure people were fine with all these gaps they would have never known about as compared to paying more for less under Obamacare. You guys act like health insurance was some wild west sector of the economy with no oversight. Every state had an insurance commission and they all regulated against these abuses that Obamacare proponents act like the ACA deals with for the first time. It's nonsense.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

A fairly nice (and short) summary on a lot of these arguments:

Obama's statements as "half-true"....pft.....hardly. That tells me all I need to know about the author's article. He said what he said to assuage fears about Obamacare knowing that he was representing to people that if you like your policy, nothing will change for you. It was a promise he couldn't keep even if he wanted to and one he full well knew was a lie. He is an intelligent man and knew that markets would have to react to his signature legislation and that some people who like their plans would be forced to change their plans. Perhaps in his mind it was a justifiable cost of doing business, but none the less he knowingly misrepresented the facts and full on out lied to help sell his plan. I don't honestly understand why people are jumping on to the whole well, technically he was partially correct. Nope....he was wholly misrepresenting a the facts and he knew it.Originally posted by VirginiaCougar View PostA fairly nice (and short) summary on a lot of these arguments:

Feinstein cleared this all up on Face the Nation...
See, it was only up to the time the bill was enacted. Now it has been enacted that promise no longer applies.SCHIEFFER: The president said in the beginning that one thing was that if you liked the health care program you had, you could keep it. We now know there was debate within the administration before he said that as to whether that was actually a promise that could be kept. Should the president not have made that statement?
FEINSTEIN: Well, as I understand it, you can keep it up to the time — and I hope this is correct, but this is what I’ve been told — up to the time the bill was enacted, and after that, it’s a different story. That part of it, if true, was never made clear."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

How the different statements were rated tells you a lot about how the spin is shaping up. Sebelius will be hewn down and cast into the fire. Eventually the disastrous rollout will be blamed on her poor leadership. Getting rid of her won't improve anything though. The law is fatally flawed and the next couple years will prove that no matter who they try to blame.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostObama's statements as "half-true"....pft.....hardly. Does this qualify as political pornography? She is a certified lefty and is defending an indefensible statement from her party leader by making crap up that is borderline nonsensical. I wonder how titilated Cali felt watching this.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

Yep, Feinstein is right... Now that the bill has been enacted it seems the promise no longer applies:

I wonder that is also the case for the promise that premiums are going to be $2,500 lower per year for a family.
And when Bush Sr said "no new taxes"...
He was really saying "no new taxes (until a new bill has passed)".Last edited by Uncle Ted; 11-05-2013, 03:23 AM."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I don't see what the problem with her explanation is....it is just as good as any other explanation other Obama supporters have tried to cobble together.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

In rebutting his critics over his "“if you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan, period” statements, Obama last night said:
Wow, just wow....now he is double down and making a statement that is verifiably false. He should just stick with the narrative that what he said is technically true and argued that republicans are using semantics to slow him down.“What we said was you could keep [your insurance plan] if it hasn’t changed since the law was passed”

http://dailycaller.com/2013/11/05/ob...aped-promises/One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

So this is a shock that the President is a liar for political gain? Heck someone pointed that out during one of his State of the Union addresses.
Now before some of you get all upset that I would say the President lies, let me say he usually does it very well. Among the political and media elite, that is actually a compliment. So take it I am complimenting him not criticizing.

I am only amazed by how badly he is doing it with this Obamacare and keep your insurance if you like it lie. It is shocking that folks are now shocked that plans are being cancelled. Plenty of Obamacare critics were calling the President a liar at the time he made the statements.Originally posted by byu71 View PostSo this is a shock that the President is a liar for political gain?
