The unconscious dude was the victim, not the suspect. Not sure what the grounds would have been for obtaining a warrant.

So it does, interesting. Police unions are some of the only labor organizations that Republicans don't want to smash. I have mixed feelings on the issue. If I were a cop though, I'd definitely want one.

            • If you didn't watch the full video because it's too long, here is a cut-down clip starting just moments before the arrest.

The nurse has the hospital supervisor on speaker-phone and has the written policy in her hand. The nurse reads the conditions under which blood may be drawn according to the policy, which the SLCPD had agreed to previously, and the hospital supervisor asks the cop over speakerphone why he's blaming the nurse, who is just the messenger. The cop then asserts his authority with physical force.

Yes, but his actions are pretty indefensible. I will join the outraged masses on this one.

Good call. Your FB post will probably tip the scales leading to his firing.

The officer did nothing correctly. They will probably use this video as training for what not to do. It started with him losing his cool, and went down from there.

The guy was working his second job as a truck driver and was involved in an accident caused by a car fleeing the Utah state police. The SLCPD wanted to collect a blood sample from the truck driver/cop to prove he wasn't driving under the influence. In other words, the SLCPD was trying to help out a fellow member of the brotherhood of police.

I agree. This was pretty much the exact opposite of what the officer did with Francis Bernard. Yet many were quite critical of how he handled the situation. One could even argue an intoxicated college FB player has a much higher potential for danger for the popo .....
