Do you know the entire story behind this to make such a definitive statement?Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostShe was being disruptive, was asked to leave, and wouldn't. And, no child should be literally tossed across a room for being disruptive. There is no reason why a cop should body slam her backwards and then heave her so far he has to have to step a ways to get on top of her. He should ask the class to go to the gym and then they talk to her and tell her to get out of the desk. Then, they call her parents. Then, she gets expelled and alternative school for being a little shit. This, on a child, is barbaric.

Clearly the alternative is to throw a child across a room when she misbehaves at school.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postyou're right, they should have just said please and this situation would have been avoided"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. On a child, no. Someone could've gotten that child to leave that room; that our goto is violence, towards a child, is wrong.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postwould any use of force have been justified in this circumstance?"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. I wonder if/when the Zangief Street Fighter parody edit will come out.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Wuap chose the cherry-picked video. There's a longer video showing the officer calmly asking her, more than once, to come with him. She refused. He then comes over to get her out of the desk and she immediately starts flailing around. Likely, it was the momentum from her total overreaction which caused her to fall backward.
It's hard to make out what caused the officer to throw her a few feet. She was probably still flailing around so the officer had to use force to separate her from the desk to a space where he could cuff her.Part of it is based on academic grounds. The cop in this video is a friend of mine and is a good dude. Had the kid not started cursing loudly, he probably would have been fine. Had the kid not started kicking my buddy when he was being removed from the Segway, he probably would have gotten an earful and nothing more. I think we can all be happy that the kid's brother/constitutional lawyer is present.
