Their advantage is biological-date of transition is irrelevant. Biological males should compete against biological males. Making the feelings of the transitioned female, or the small subset of the trans demographic, a higher priority than common sense that biological males should not compete against biological females is absurd. To most sane folks they can see that this movement is not about giving a mediocre NCAA swimmer like Lia Thomas her chance to win a medal, most folks understand this is an extremely complex issue and are predisposed towards being compassionate, but it is absurd to allow Lia to compete against biological girls. Society, pushed by elements of the left, abdicated its position of being adult like by acquiescing to allowing Lia to compete against biological girls just because it couldn't figure out what to do with Lia. Society knows it is absurd and it needs to be willing to be an adult and deal with Lia's hurt feelings, perhaps Van Jones knows a good therapist?

#1 issue in America? Nobody claimed that. Big enough issue to swing votes? Absolutely.

      Shaka is right.
Clearly it was a big enough scarecrow of an issue. It should not be (IMO) the basis for any choosing a leader of your country. If only we could solve the trans-in-sports issue so we could get the economy going and end the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East!

Are we talking about sporting events or elected office here?

Again, NOBODY is claiming it was the most important issue. Stop already with the strawman argument.

Allow me a little hyperbole please.

Of course it was not the #1 issue. But the fact that it was a significant issue that had a significant impact on the election is what I find ridiculous. This is not an issue of national importance and should not be a major motivating factor in a presidential election like this one, where there are so many actual issues to be addressed.

I think you are getting lost in the details a bit here. The trangender issue, and magnifying it in the ad, was simply the proxy or symbol for "look at this crazy woke nonsense that the left believes." You are correct that the number of trans kids or trans females in sports is incredibly small in relation to the size of this country. But the limited number of cases elicits a visceral feeling of unfairness and shock in normies. And those feelings paired with stuff they see in education or entertainment is what was impactful. You can't tease out trans issues with other progressive culture war issues because the progressives won't allow it.

Take it up with the marketing and politics experts who have weighed in.

The objective was to portray Harris as an out of touch liberal. It was very effective.

My position extends to the culture war woke bs. Those issues have been fading for years after the peak "safe spaces in college" nonsense of of 5-10 years ago. It is a bogeyman, not a serious issue that needs (or can be) addressed by the President of the United States.

Absolutely. I don't have an issue with marketing using the ad. I have an issue with the people who consider it a serious issue, one that might have a significant impact on the most important political contest in the world.

I agree they have peaked in the culture at large, but there is still a heavy presence in government agencies and certain areas of academia and medicine (I can speak from direct experience). They are also very much alive and well in many school districts (primarily in blue states and inner cities controlled by teacher's unions).

Just for some nuance, a phenotypic female could have undescended testicles and have an XY complement, but have reduced or absent enzyme activity that would decrease male characteristics. I'm only stating this in case people read your 'testicles' and thinks a simple medical exam could have solved all the controversy. Unless of course that's the case, which would then be one huge shitshow for the international boxing committee.
I think that's what bugs me the most about the two sides in their entrenched positions. *It's all black & white with no nuance.

*Yes, I realize I just painted both sides in black & white the same way. Oh the irony.

Her mistake was she trusted the polls too much and stopped campaigning in the "blue wall" states. Harris couldn't do an interview, give any details about her ideas/policies, or even talk without a teleprompter. Hilary actually showed signs of intelligence.

I'm not wrong. It wasn't a concern until the messaging was pounded into people's head via outrage media loops.

It's hard for a party to complete against one that picks a person like Trump as their candidate 3 times in a row.

No, I am talking about the experts who have said it was the most effective ad in the campaign.

You may be too young to remember the ad that Bush Senior ran in 1988 showing Democratic opponent Michael Dukakis looking goofy as hell riding around in a tank.

                            https://www.history.com/videos/tank-ride

They ran it non-stop and it ended up being hugely impactful on the race. It was just one dumb little video clip, but extremely effective in conveying a message ("this guy is a clown and not fit to oversee our military").

Of course, the Reagan Willie Horton ad was also extremely effective (sadly - racist undertones).

So you can fuss all you want about how one ad cannot possibly have a "significant" impact in a campaign, but that shows an ignorance of political marketing history.

Everyone said it wouldn't have a real impact. Then we had the trans swimmer win an NCAA title. Then a biological male beat up a bunch of women to win a olympic gold medal. Now we have lots of college volleyball teams forfeiting games with SJSU because they have a biological male on their team that is dominating.

Again, nobody is arguing it is the top issue. But stop kidding yourself that it isn't a big deal.
In the senate race in Texas Cruz and Allred were pretty much tied in the polls. Cruz didn't have near the money as Allred so didn't have the ad budget to make and run a lot of ads so his main attack was on men in women's sports. Allred tried to run a counter ad saying he wasn't for boys playing in girl's sports. Cruz took Allred's ad and used it in his own along with Allred's voting record. I don't recall seeing or hearing Cruz ad's on other issues and he ended up winning by over 8 points. Apparently a big issue in Texas and Tampon Tim was a terrible VP pick. I tried to tell you guys that from the very beginning.
