I think you've managed to miss my point almost completely. Looking back at your past posts, you've done it from the start.

I'll go back to what I said in my first post: if you want to have a division for men's sports and for women's sports, there's no argument for why that division should exist that would not require screening biological males.

My point is not that this is not where the line should be drawn. Never has been.

When the advocates come storming in telling you they are out to protect women's sports-- something about which they were demonstrably indifferent until now-- color me skeptical. But if you want to celebrate the newfound groundswell of sincere and genuine support for women's athletics among people who never cared about them until transgenders came onto the scene, don't let my cynicism stop you.

But when your position is that women have the absolute right to sex-segregated spaces and opportunities the scope of the problem is largely irrelevant. Athletics is a common example because of how offensive it is to the principles of fair play. But it's not just there. The New York Times had this amazing paragraph in an article about Trump's ban on transgender women from female prisons.

15 percent? Holy crap, I had no idea it was that high.

This is what is baffling to me. 79% of americans support this. A very high percentage of american families have daughters that participate in sports. Who are you to say that they never cared about women's sports before?

        Cynicism indeed.

Let's put it this way. Do Donald Trump, JD Vance, Ted Cruz, Ben Shapiro, etc. strike you as a women's sports enthusiast?

It's pretty easy to see the political strategy here. Republicans found an area where liberals painted themselves into an unpopular and scientifically dubious corner. To make matters even better, they can dress their argument up as supporting women's rights-- a subject where the right's record is, shall we say, mixed. It's a big political winner, and they are pressing the advantage for all its worth. If making the problem out to be bigger than it really is gets them a few extra votes in November, who's gonna complain?

What does that have to do with 79% of americans?

Yeah, of course they are tapping into an issue that the majority of people feel strongly about. That doesn't mean it is not an important or valid issue.

Another good question is why on earth did Biden and the democrats take such a stupid and unpopular stance on the issue?

I always figured some democratic strategist just assumed that LGBT is an indivisible unit, and anybody in favor of L, G, and B could not possibly not also support all things T.

              A critical miscalculation.

                It’s also irrelevant.

I don’t watch women’s gymnastics, but I know it exists, and I certainly cared about whether the girls were being molested by their trainers and doctors. That wasn’t a two-sided issue, but the logic is the same.

A person doesn’t have to hold an entertainment interest in or even pay attention to girl’s sports (or transgender athletes) to care about these societal issues once they learn of them.

As opposed to all their other great stances?

This idea that “advocates” who hate LGBT are coming out just because of their hated is inconsequential nor a path to allow this to take place.

The only people I have seen advocate or the girls and the families it has impacted. That is the majority of advocates for fairness and what is right. I have a daughter. I will protect her rights and fairness... Period.

There's are some hateful people in the mix. Not a great time to be LGBT right now.

But I don't it's fair to assume people with this concern should be considered bigoted or hateful by default but it is there. Some of the things shared even in this thread have helped me recognize that this issue should've had some common-sense based examination. But much of the energy and language go far beyond that.

Not everyone is a genuine actor like you are and social media propagates it. Accounts like LibsofTikTok aren't helping the issue. People who make money of off clicks don't benefit from issues being resolved.

                        • White House announced today that they intend to pull $175M in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania because they allow biological males in women's sports and changing rooms, etc.

That is unnecessarily punitive and unhelpful. And no, I'm not in favor on trans women who are biologically male competing in these sports.

This is not how solutions are reached. Trump pulls funding for various issues so it lessens whatever credibility it could've had.

I do not support biological males competing in women's sports. However, if anyone is okay with this, just be prepared from when the pendulum swings and federal funding is taken away from BYU for discriminating against LGBTQ people in their policies.
