Truly horrifying.

Actually if Biden and Trump were actually on the same ticket it would be great. Then we all could vote for whoever the GOP’ers put up in Trump’s place. Of course, the GOP’ers would most likely blow it and put up someone like McConnell/MTG as their replacement for the Trump ticket.

I watched about half the press conference and he seemed fine. About as good as he's been at any point in recent memory. The weirdest thing to me were all the references to a big boy press conference. It seemed super condescending, not really confidence inspiring.

I believe Grandpa Joe’s “brain trust” came up with the name…

For Biden to pull this off he has to keep the gaffes to regular Biden level, Trump to continue to lie every time he opens his mouth, and for independents to be motivated enough to pick the more moral person even if he’s more likely than Trump to not last a term. In short, a perfect storm.

Does Biden do the second debate? I suspect he has to at this point. Trump may try to back out of it since he has nothing to gain by attending another debate.

Yeah, if you are way ahead in the polls then you have nothing to gain... Trump should just work on his golf game and keep offering to play Grandpa Joe in a round of golf for $1m.

Yeah, if you are way ahead in the polls then you have nothing to gain... Trump should just work on his golf game and keep offering to play Grandpa Joe in a round of golf for $1m.

I don't think Trump will ever be that far ahead in the polls. Things look good for him now, but it's only because the attention is all on Biden's mental capacity and the excitement about a potential replacement. After the conventions things will calm down, Biden will go back into hiding and the polls will tighten back up.

The notion that Biden can simply do a few energetic pressers and people will forget about this whole thing is pure fantasy. That genie is never going back in the bottle and Biden will continue to have gaffes that keep the focus on him and not on trump.

I didn't watch the debate, didn't watch the big boy press conference, didn't watch any of the little boy press conferences that I assume happened, and don't follow politics all that closely.

With those caveats, I'm calling it. Biden won't be the candidate this year.

Similar to the problems with Boeing, now that this is out in the open, anytime Biden misspeaks or shows age-related weakness it will be headline news. His options are to basically:

1. Stop having any age-related issues and show new-found vigor and vitality continually for the next four months. Probability about 0.1%
2. Hide out until the election. Probability of winning the election about the same as above

ABC news showed a poll yesterday that said 85% of americans now think he is too old. That is an astronomical number.

Yeah, Grandpa Joe might need to take Trump up on that million dollar golf game if the Dems withhold his donations... Money is going to get tight.

And it is not like Joe can just run out and get a job as a cashier at Home Depot or something...

it was a press conference where something like mixing up the name of his vp with his opponent was exactly what he could not afford. he had plenty of time to prepare, memorize a script, take a bunch of amphetamines, etc., and couldn't afford to not get it perfectly. content was totally irrelevant--he just needed to seem not slow and confused. his decline is disqualifying.

Although Biden did reasonably well at the press conference and the NATO confab, there''s no question he's not as sharp as he was just two years ago, and the pace of decline seems to be increasing. Thinking what. President Biden may be like in 2027 is very concerning. I won't be satisfied unless he has a thorough evaluation by truly disinterested experts. His excuses for not getting one are pretty stupid. I suspect he may have had one but won't disclose it for obvious reasons.
