There is an NYT podcast on this today. The guest claimed that while they can’t transfer the money from the Biden campaign to the new candidate campaign, Biden could choose to spend that money however he wants, including running nonstop ads for the new candidate. So that doesn’t seem like as big of burden as they are making it out to be.

They brought up another point that I think is lost from most of the discussions. Those polls showing Biden’s chances versus the other candidates are for a snapshot in time. Once a new candidate is selected, all of the media focus and attention would likely cause a big bump in popularity and support as voters got to know them a little better. Right now we are dealing with relatively unknown people. I think this shift would be especially pronounced, once they see the contrast of a candidate with youth and vigor as opposed to the walking corpse we currently have. Neglecting this particular dynamic as part of the decision seems like political malpractice to me.

    • Another take away from this podcast is that if Biden would quickly agree to drop out, doing a switch even this late in the game would work. But if he doesn’t want to drop out, things get infinitely messier and the logistics become near impossible. So once again, the fate of the free world is being held hostage by the egos of Joe and Jill Biden. And Hunter I guess since the president takes advice from him. God help us.

Biden deserves some credit for allowing Hunter's prosecution to go through. With Trump, any restraint will be a thing of the past. I agree the need for his to step down is urgent, but's enablers deserve scorn. If more republicans had spines we wouldn't be here.

I'd take Newsom's unlikeability right now. Trump is exposable but someone capable of being assertive is needed. Hillary gave off such a cringy vibe, and she never had a commanding presence.

I feel as one of the most ardent ‘keep Trump away from the presidency at all costs’ members here I should offer my updated opinion. If it’s true as it looks increasingly likely that Biden’s true health status has been hidden from both democrats and the world, Biden deserves to lose to Trump. Biden never was more than a return to normalcy. He has been a below average president, and it seems like he and his enablers are wrapped up in hubris thinking he should be reelected no matter what. This shit show rivals the GOP debacle in letting Trump control as much power as he does. The only difference is that Biden is a more decent human being than Trump, and he supports better policies (I know, debatable to some here).

I have no interest in supporting Biden from here on out. If he wins, fine. The country may be better in the short term. If he loses, whatever. Let Trump run everything into the ground since half of the electorate support him anyways. Maybe then in 4 years the country will be ready to elect someone better.

Or maybe we give Trump a third term.

That's because Hunter is the smartest guy that Grandpa Joe knows... Just another indication poor Grandpa Joe is suffering from dementia.

My theory here is Jill is actually running the office of the president just like when Woodrow Wilson had a stroke and his wife, Edith, essentially ran the country from his bedroom.

Yep. I’ve learned that no Trump scenario is too outlandish. I’m sure given enough GOP support he would at least entertain the possibility. But you caught me in a very apathetic mood today. Maybe I’ll come back around and donate to Biden tomorrow (haven’t yet!).

Didn't have to drag Melania out of the WH. She was never really there. Wonder where she is now? Some check the 1st tee at Bedminster.

The WH isn't as near nice as some of Trump's other estates... Why would she like to hang out there?

So Grandpa Joe could create his own PAC and hire the smartest guy he knows to run it, his son Hunter. And Hunter could make sure the "Big Guy" gets his 10%. Nice. Of course, there is another name on the Biden ticket and the donations were also made to that name... I am sure she will have something to say about it.

And she polls lower than Biden.

Ha, I love the attempts to spin that story into a positive for Trump. As if using your dead ex-wife, the mother of three of your five children, as a tax break is a good look for Trump.

The high inflation, wars, slave trade at the southern border, etc. are not his fault. The democratic party is the party of love and forgiving. Where is your heart?

                              • It's going to be funny when all the MAGA folks gloating right now have to console themselves with conspiracy theories after some Johnny come lately Dem beats Trump in the general after only campaigning like a month.
