I think Biden got $35M. But it is a nice round number, $50M.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I didn't know that. $35M is impressive. How many ex-presidents came to Trump's fundraiser?Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

The abortion stuff is fascinating from a political standpoint. I wonder how the average evangelical feels when Trump says states rights should reign supreme.
If we had a functioning GOP, they could easily sweep the next 2 election cycles strictly by pushing a 15 week abortion ban. It’s such a reasonable marker, 90% winner with the poppulace and they could hammer the dems for wanting 8 month abortions until the election.

Here’s the thing: murder is murder. 23 versus 15 weeks is irrelevant. Wanna know why? Because pro-life GOP leaders rightfully see that for the farce it is. Once you’ve labeled it baby killing 8 weeks of development is meaningless. You’re still stopping a beating heart, even if the fetus isn’t as cute or more human than a late second trimester one. A 15 week ban only serves to make the US feel more in line with European countries, most of which view an earlier 2nd trimester law as not absolute anyways. It is still the same dirty work."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

I'm unsure of the point you're trying to make. Are you saying that abortion is murder, or are you being ironic?Originally posted by Northwestcoug View PostHere’s the thing: murder is murder. 23 versus 15 weeks is irrelevant. Wanna know why? I’m pointing out the speciousness (think I’m using that word right) of clamoring for a 15 week ban. It’s an attempt at compromise, to make abortion more palatable. It doesn’t solve any of the moral issues pro-life people have with abortion.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View Post

Right. And if the GOP pushed a 15 week ban, they’d all be voted out if office. At least the members of the House would be.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post

Doubtful. It's a small percentage of folks who care about abortion. MAGA has ripped off the bandage of piety.Originally posted by falafel View Post

Lindsay Graham is out supporting a 15 week ban.

They don’t all need to be voted out for them to think they will be voted out, on an individual basis. They aren’t thinking of the group.Originally posted by fusnik View Post

also, hilarious that you are calling on the GOP to push “reasonable” abortion restrictions.

I'm saying if the GOP was a functioning party, they could use abortion and a 15 week compromise as a cudgel against the democrats to win multiple election cycles.
15 weeks is such a winner, dems need to be careful because if the GOP in general, obvs will always have the zero tolerance abotion folks, coalesces around 12-15 weeks, the democrats will find themselves in an unreasonable position.
Two driving forces have pushed the elections the last 3 cycles, Trump and abortion. But a big portion of the abortion folks are center left/right people that are gettable by either party.
I just think its fascinating such an easy win is so hard for both parties to take.

This is absolutely correct. The first party to support a 15-week ban (with some reasonable carveouts) will push the other party into an untenable position.Originally posted by fusnik View Post
