If he wins it’ll be horrible for the country. If he loses half the country won’t believe that he actually lost.

Losses haven’t broken the fever. A coup attempt didn’t break the fever. I think the only thing that can break it is a mass exodus of GOP members to the DNC.

Save that we are set for 5 more election cycles of Trump acolytes.
US voters like to keep a balance in Congress. I think that's the only thing keeping the GOP relevant politically. Otherwise, they'd lose big for the MAGA shenanigans. I think it's going to take quite a while for the GOP to recover from Trump. But until it does--if it ever really does--US voters will keep them competitive.

Meh… it could be worse. Like calling for an insurrection on the capitol then wanting to call in the national guard on his supporters. WTF, man.

Well, that and the obscene gerrymandering and the deliberate attempts by the GOP in numerous states to circumvent voters' wills in order to keep power.

Yes, the GOP is the party of voter suppression as they try to gain the competitive advantage. But I don't think it moves the needle. More voters in the middle would move their way to keep it close. I'm convinced it the US will vote towards an equilibrium between the two parties.

The middle voter is a myth. Just like the existence of a libertarian.

Most independents vote consistently one side or the other and simply identify as independent. Similar to a vast majority of libertarians who almost always vote for the Republican candidate.

I think the majority of the MAGA republicans in the house and senate are opportunists who jumped on board the Trump train when it became clear Trump was unstoppable. Remember how it seemed like the GOP was finally turning on him after Jan. 6? I think they believed he was a sinking ship and they were getting ready to jump, only to have that shrieking eel (where's LAU when you need for a Princess Bride reference?) wriggle out of trouble again. But no one can do MAGA like Trump - lots have tried and none have gotten anywhere. DeSantis got as close as anyone to looking like the heir and he flamed out hilariously.
His family has officially taken over the party apparatus I think his style will last a lot longer.

Even if he dies in 10 years he will be the head of one political party for 25 years, I don’t see how that doesn’t cause major problems going forward.

Last I heard is that they have about 45 states but aren't sure if they will be able to get on all 50.

The next presidential nominee generally cleans house and installs their own people in the national committees, since getting the nominee elected is the paramount goal and the nominee needs to make sure the party structure is operating how he'd like it to. Lara Trump isn't going to be the RNC chair in 4 years. And I don't see Donny Jr. or Cousin Eric capturing the hearts and minds of the GOP like Trump has. I hate Trump, but I see his appeal to certain voters. Don Jr. and Eric have no appeal. Ivanka, on the other hand, might be able to do something, but she's pretty much distanced herself from the rest of the family and is happy to spend all that Saudi money so I don't see her running for office any time soon.

But I agree that Trump's dismantling of our institutions and undermining of public trust in them is severely damaging and will have a very long impact on the country.

Trump dismantled the GOP establishment relatively quickly. Now that Trump is the establishment, all it would take is another charismatic republican to similarly clean house.

Nah, I don't think he has the stamina. And if he's a convicted felon, he's toast.

Is the RNC their only legitimate business venture at this time?

Ivanka has the China stuff and the Saudi stuff but the brothers, are they running any type of discernible business?

Eric was running the Trump Organization. I guess he still is, since the NY appeals court stayed the order saying he can't be an officer of a company in NY.

I have no idea what Donny Jr. does.
