I freely admit that I'm an asshole. Those who have golfed with me or sought advice on what wakeboat to buy know this. Double for those that have done both.

I doubt anyone has more trump-loving family members than me. I love and respect them all. And I often look at many of them and think perhaps if my life circumstances were more similar to theirs, I would be in the same boat. I try not to judge them or think less of them.

You're a better person than I, because I have trump-loving family members, and I don't respect them a whit. I suppose I love them, but I'm not even sure if that's real or just social convention.

For all the rhetoric and hyperbole about all the damage Trump will do there's already a four-year glimpse into how he actually runs a presidency. Could it be all of your smart relatives are relying more on his track record the last time he was president rather than all the hysterical crap passed around by some on here and much of the media? I'm sitting here watching the basketball game with one of the nation's top tax attorneys (BYU grad) and he's voting for Trump because he liked Trump's policies when he was president. This guy is the opposite of stupid.

Your friend is probably intelligent, but intelligent and stupid are not mutually exclusive. My guess is that your friend simply lacks moral character.

I've got 9 living brothers and sisters. They mostly have reasonable political views. I do have one sister who's a vaccine skeptic. But even my conservative parents are anti-Trump.

I myself started quite conservative as a teenager. I'm now very close to the center. If anything, Trump and GOP leadership pre-Trump, probably started with Newt, pushed me to lean slightly left. But then I'm not the sharpest hammer in the box of rocks, as is often on full display here.
