We have gone over this countless times. We are talking about the state of the general election. If you think my vote is up for grabs or that there is even the slightest chance I would vote for Trump, you have either the worst reading comprehension in history or are just being deliberately obtuse. I am guessing the latter.

lol this is based on nothing. Trump has the ever-shrinking GOP brainwashed (or does he? Haley just won in D.C.) but he ain't winning the margin of women and Independents he needs. SCOTUS is all but ensuring voter turnout will be at an all-time high.

Your line of thinking appears to be consistent with the Biden team. I dunno though...

To some on here, any suggestion that Biden might not win appears to be taken for tacit Trump support or something. I think both of these guys are bozos and I think Trump is worse, but my mind is almost completely focused on the horse race now. This is a fascinating election because both of these candidates are disliked and their campaigns are shit shows. If y'all can't step back and see the compelling storylines and laugh at the absurdity of it all, you are going to lose your minds.

This seemed to be the line of thinking with the Hillary campaign back in 2016. They ran on not being Donald Trump.

Honestly, it was probably covid that prevented Trump from being re-elected. It showed America that you need someone competent in charge in times of crisis. People have short memories though and "not being Donald Trump" is a risky campaign strategy this year.

It's consistent with Poli-Sci 101. Biden already beat Trump. He is the incumbent. The economy is good. This election is a referendum on women's rights with the specter of birth control and in vitrio fertilization now on the chopping block, and Trump has no ideas. His base is shrinking. Trump is cornering his position and to the right on the spectrum instead of trying to win over independents. He is hemorrhaging voters with every new thing that comes out against him. I think the lesson from Hilary's loss is to not rely on polls and never underestimate white grievance, but... Trump ain't it. He's a one-hit wonder and he is cranking that shit to 11 for his choir, no doubt. But he's not winning another thing ever. The GOP has not been able to wrest free of him even though he has dragged them to disappointing returns, unexpected losses, and record low cash in their coffers. Everything he touches turns to shit, but sure let's re-up Captain Coup.

Biden hasn't even begun to spend. We are going to be reminded, especially those of us in swing states, about January 6, Trump's lack of leadership during covid, his brinksmanship policies, his affinity for Putin, etc etc etc. I can't believe the only Republican with a spine was Chris Christie. Every single person running should have told the truth about him.

If it would have been effective, more would.

The Jan 6 and other "Trump is horrible" campaigns haven't worked so far. I don't know that throwing more money at it will work. People aren't going to see an ad and thing to themselves "Oh, I forgot about Jan 6th. Right! I was going to vote for Trump, but now I'm not."

Eh, I think it will be effective on the margins. And that's all you really need.

I don't know who I"m more upset with, the R's for putting Trump back up there or the D's for sticking with Biden. I still have a hard time believing this will be the two on the ballot come November.

I think this is too dependent on high information voter level of understanding. It's lizard brain politics. Turn off the volume watching a Biden and Trump speech, who looks better? Do people still feel like they are paying too much for food? Does concern for radical race politics cancel out the the concern for reproductive rights on the left?

Are you working under the assumption that because the polls were wrong in 2016, that the same problem with polling exists in 2024? Polling hasn't tried to adjust to new realities? You may ultimately be right, but I just don't see it now. If the election were held today, Trump would win easily. What lizard brain issues are going to sway things back to Biden? The corruption of Trump us high information voters see isn't yet of concern thus far to the populace as a whole.

I'm certainly more upset with the GOP base for going all in on Trump, basically jettisoning most of the positive policy issues the dumb party has. I'm more perplexed by the Democrat "elites" for going all in with Biden when the base appears open to alternatives.

The GOP has specifically flooded the zone with bullshit to get people to do precisely that. Remember how many GOP legislators were fully 'fed up' with Trump after Jan 6 and how quickly they became his first line of defense? 'January 6 hostages' and all this nonsense... Only the truly crazy buy that. That is why Biden is mopping the floor with Trump for the last time this year.

Well if it comes down to 'lizard brain' stuff, Biden wins. 1. The economy, barring any major hiccups, will favor the incumbent. 2. Women's issues that the GOP is unwittingly lighting on fire right now also favor the incumbent. 3. Trump is a criminal (everyone's lizard brain detects this whether they admit it or not. This does not require a high amount of information). Remember that Red Wave that was really supposed to be something else in 2022 that never came? That is directly because of Trump and his lingering influence. It makes reasonable Republican-voting people stay home. And those people's votes are not made up by the crazies.
