Women's issues that the GOP is unwittingly lighting on fire right now also favor the incumbent. 3. Trump is a criminal (everyone's lizard brain detects this whether they admit it or not. This does not require a high amount of information). Remember that Red Wave that was really supposed to be something else in 2022 that never came? That is directly because of Trump and his lingering influence. It makes reasonable Republican-voting people stay home. And those people's votes are not made up by the crazies.
Trump being a criminal, a liar, and a narcissist is baked into the cake. Everyone knows this in 2024. It's just a part of the package. He isn't held to the same standard as any other single politician. It's not fair, but it's the reality. And Jan 6 has been litigated in the public for close to 4 years now. Everyone knows the details. And the Biden team thinks that just advertising Jan 6 again will turn it all around?

Yeah but Trump and his maga crowd are also losers. He and his team have consistently lost in pretty much every awing state and district since 2018. It is they who will be needing to attract new votes to win in 2024.

      • Id feel better if the oppostie candidate isnt somewhat likely to be medically embarrased or withdrawn, he really needs to announce he wont run after today

IMagine if joe has an episode during the debate or during public events. the election would be over, even if trump looks as dumb he is somewhat less likely to have such a thing happen

        • Utah neighborhood caucus is tonight. I am a little torn. I would like to go for the opportunity to vote against trump. And I am sympathetic to the "go to your caucus" letter from the FP read at church recently. But yeesh, I don't want to have anything to do with the republican party right now. I am also afraid I would say things that would offend my neighbors. Will likely stay home and watch the basketball game.

I'm going, sitting silently and voting for Haley.

Ha. I just got back from voting. Because I am registered as "Unaffiliated", I am able to choose which party to vote in the primary. When the poll worker asked which ballot I wanted, I felt some shame when I said "Republican", and looked around to see if anyone I knew was there. Despite this cognitive disconnect, I did my duty and voted against Trump.

Also, good news! The basketball game is tomorrow! (assuming you are talking about BYU's)

                • I would vote in Texas today for Haley but also want to vote for Collin Allred for Senate on the dem side because he is an excellent moderate dem candidate who is polling very strongly against Ted Cruz right now. Plus the GOP in Texas feels particularly slimy right now and I don't want to associate with it.

                          • Just voted against Trump (voted for Haley) and Ted Cruz (can’t remember who I picked but at least it wasn’t Ted). I’ve done my part.

Agreed. The maga is strong with many of them. I bite my tongue if politics ever comes up. Though when I was the EQP, I shut down someone bad-mouthing Obama in our EQ meeting once. "Hey, that's the Commander-in-Chief!"
