At first, I thought your post said that Melania was kicking Trump off the ballet, which I felt needed more context.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostMaine kicks Trump off the ballet. Haha.
Now I realize that Maine is doing the kicking and the ballot is the likely beneficiary. Same reasoning as in Colorado?"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Maybe less safe from judicial review by the state courts, but probably equally unsafe from the US Supreme Court.Originally posted by USUC View PostColorado was the result of their state Supreme Court. The Maine move comes from the Secretary of State. Liberals just can’t help themselves. This is going to backfire on them. It plays exactly into Trumps MO to claim that the deep state is doing everything they can to keep him from winning.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostMaine kicks Trump off the ballet. Haha.
A better strategy would be to run someone that’s isn’t super old and that doesn’t have a pretty bad net unfavorable rating. But that would be too rational for the Dems to do so here we are…"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

It was bad. Such an easy question (and a stupid question to even ask) and one that deserves a quick response and then pivot to discuss something relevant to today.Originally posted by Maximus View PostHaley with an unforced error at the exact wrong time. Are you sure you read the entire article? Do you think the intent of the one sentence in the textbook is to shed light on the immoral justifications that were used at the time to justify the satanic practice that was slavery? Maybe I am too cynical? Because those arguments were made at the time, and even after slavery was abolished to give the idea that it wasn't so bad because black people are inherently inferior and therefore needed it. If you can show me where the textbook actually deconstructs all of that and explains it in its full context as a justification for racism used historically, then great. If it's just the one hit and run sentence that opens the door to a positive sounding take on slavery based on slaves learning a skill while in involuntary servitude, then yes, I have a problem with that.Originally posted by BigPiney View Post
And I say "satanic" from my completely sincere belief in the eternal plan of God as taught in my faith about who it was who fought against the agency of man.

In light of whose vote she's trying to get for the nomination, her answer is not a big deal.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

The 14th amendment says what it says and the historical context and intent at the time fits with the idea of a losing president summoning a mob to help him stay in power after losing the election. It's not legal morons who have made the argument. Michael Luttig isn't a lightweight. Nor is he a liberal. The problem is that following the letter of the law here is too problematic I guess. It will drive magabots crazy and that could make things worse, I suppose.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

This piece makes some good observations, IMO about Nikki Haley's gaffe and how it reflects the 20th century revisionist history about the civil war and slavery within education that was fairly prominent really going all the way into the 80s when I was in school.
