I mean that's kinda ignoring the issues right?

Trump is going to deport 20 million. Some citizens will be caught up in it but that's the price to pay

Trump should be in jail and he knows it

No. My preference would have been a Harris Whitehouse and a GOP congress. I'm scared of Trump's tarrifs. I'm scared of RFK Jr being anywhere close to decision makers. I'm scared of the precedent that giving Trump a pass for Jan 6 sets.

I miss NS. He would have some interesting things to say today along these lines.

Right. I really don't think he's bluffing on the tariffs thing. Hold onto your hats. People voted on the inflation issue but unfortunately the "solution" of Trump is going to give them the exact opposite of what they most cared about. As my wife likes to say, "you get what you pay for." Fewer/weaker guardrails to slow the craziness and keep back his worst impulses.. America have fun with that.

I will say an unchecked Trump will probably be his own undoing because he's completely crazy. Let's hope he doesn't take the planet down with him

Weird scold. I'm pretty sure you previously stated you preferred Trump and GOP senate in the least.

My political prioritizes can be summed up by not wanting to have a sociopath in the White House

Whatever it takes to reduce all the stupid wasteful government spending and reduce the size of the government so it doesn't happen again in the future.

How many of those 500,000 public charging stations did the EPA build? Maybe we would be better off if the EPA was burned to the ground.

How many people has the FCC connected with the $42 billion in funding they were given for rural internet? A program that Harris, herself, was supposedly heading up. Maybe we would be better off if the FCC was burned to the ground.

The Harris-Biden administration is the source of a lot of this government waste. Especially Biden given how long he has been involved with the federal government. Step 1 of firing them can soon be checked off.

Just like when Harris called 18-24 years "stupid" (multiple times)... Apparently Trump won among 18-29 year olds.

                        Go figure.

Yep. Certainly some of those issues played roles (not an insignificant part of MAGA is clearly racist and misogynist), but Harris wasn't going to get those voters anyway. It saddens me that it exists and is now even more emboldened, but it is what it is I guess.

So what was it? Inflation? Illegal immigration? Biden actually did some very good things, but they weren't sexy and the benefits will not be seen for a few more years. How does one run on that? I guess people had nostalgia for the first Trump presidency? I saw it as chaotic, so I don't understand that. I guess we can put the the strength of the Pro Choice movement to bed. Just doesn't seem to be there.

My greatest fear is Trump breaking things on the international front. That just doesn't move voters.
                          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

It seems from the exit polls people were very unhappy with the way things are going... 29% were angry!

So the economy/inflation/wages/etc, flood of illegal immigration and increased crime, or pretty much all of the Harris-Biden administration BS. Harris was running on the promise she was going to change it on "day 1" and voters were asking where the hell have been the last four years.

Polls show that the economy and immigration were the two biggest issues. Biden spent money like a drunken sailor early in his presidency and it made inflation skyrocket, making life seems miserable for the average person. Yes, stocks are higher than ever, but inflation is way more visceral for most people. And the border has been a disaster.

I think this election is also a referendum on DEI, identity politics, extreme trans/LGBTQ issues, etc. The democrats are popular in the faculty lounge, but they have lost the working class and much of the middle class.
