On inflation I get that and I agree. The problem is there is absolutely nothing Trump can do to magically restore prices at the grocery store to 2 years ago. Unfortunately he can do the exact opposite with tariffs and deportations. We'll see what happens.

Well, there are still lots of ballots to be counted and there isn't the raw emotions that came from Covid, the BLM protest, and all the chaos that went on last election that motivated a lot of people to vote.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

If RFK Jr. gets any level of power in the administration, how is that any more serious than this list?Originally posted by Maximus View Post

You realize Trump killed the border bill by ordering his minions to oppose it so it would give Harris any political wins.Originally posted by Moliere View Post
I'll say it again but I'm sure you won't believe me, but Harris losing has very little to do with culture war issues. It was inflation and immigration. All the exit polls showed that those were the main issues along with the economy. Culture war issues were very small in those polls. Even abortion was just the main issue for 11% of exit poll responders.
Poeple have less buying power and they are tired of open/porous borders. This isn't hard to understand...unless you are a democrat.
The culture war fueled Trump and MAGA. Don't scold democrats for being unreasonable when it was republicans who eagerly vote for a guy who wants to put brain-worm riddled RFK in charge of the CDC and has a pattern of hanging out with Epstein and sexually assaulting women.

When Trump and his adherents start enacting projecting 2025 shit, I wonder if anyone on here will own up to being wrong when they made fun of those of us who have concerns about it.

I agree with this - Trump wasn't stupid, he knew that would be a winning issue. Its the American people who weren't paying attention when Trump openly and brazenly killed the border deal so he could use it to bash Harris. Voters either pay attention to that or didn't care (the didn't care part doesn't make sense to me, since they clearly cared on election day).Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

But the real villain in Harris' story isn't Trump, its Biden. If he had kept his promise to only stay one term, there could have been a real primary and debate among democrats and perhaps a real and viable candidate would have emerged. Harris was 7th out of 8 or something 4 years ago, its amazing she did as well as she did at such a late date. But clearly she wasn't the right candidate and didn't have the necessary time to build momentum and a coalition.
If Biden hadn't dumped trillions of dollars into the economy and cause inflation to soar (I acknowledge that hindsight is 20/20), or if a democrat that was NOT the VP to Biden were running against Trump, that person might have made a decent argument to differentiate themselves from the Biden admin. Instead, the old bastard couldn't let go of he took the country down with him (or at least, half the country).
Thanks for nothin', Joe.

He shouldn’t have killed the border bill, however the Dems sat on their hands for three years as immigration got worse and worse. Biden also could have stopped the immigration crisis through EO, which he eventually did. Everyone knew the Dems only put the bill forward for political reasons in an election year and everyone knew Trump killed it for political reasons.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

Neither party cares about people. They care about power and the immigration issue is an almost perfect example of that."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Have you listened to the right wing rhetoric on immigration reform? It's unhinged, racist and insane. Black people eating dogs. It is still very much a culture war issues as it's framed as existential threat to the white majority.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

I love you Moli, but both sides are not the same. It can ease the soul to make them equivalent but it doesn't make it so. It's not about democrats being wonderful. I do not worship them and I am underwhelmed by their lack of leadership on many issues. But they are profoundly less evil than MAGA - for now- at least.
BTW, another thing I and other progressives were mocked for being a chicken-little about, "project 2025," is now no longer a lie.
Kremlin-paid tool, Ted retweetee and Trumpist Benny Johnson went ahead and said the quiet part out loud. You should read up on what you dismissed as liberal hysteria. It's pretty awful.
Trump whisperer Steve Bannon elaborated.
On Wednesday morning, some of Trump’s favorite fans finally felt comfortable joking about what the next president has long denied: Project 2025has always been the plan for a second Trump term.
“Now that the election is over I think we can finally say that yeah actually Project 2025 is the agenda. Lol,” right-wing podcast host Matt Walsh wrote in a post on Xof the 900-plus-page extremist guidebook. Walsh’s message soon got picked up and promoted by Steve Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist who was recently released from prison, where he landed after ignoring a subpoena from the House January 6 Committee. “Fabulous,” Bannon said, chuckling, after reading Walsh’s post out loud on his War Room podcast today. “We might have to put that everywhere.”
Benny Johnson, a conservative YouTuber with 2.59 million followers who has called affirmative action “Nazi-level thinking” and said Trump should prosecuteBiden for human trafficking of immigrants, also chimed in: “It is my honor to inform you all that Project 2025 was real the whole time,” he posted on X.
Bo French, a local Texas GOP official who recently came under fire for using slurs about gay people and people with disabilities on social media, wrote: “Can we admit now that we are going to implement Project 2025?”
Walsh, Bannon, and the others are not the only people in Trump’s orbit who have made these promises. While Trump has tried to distance himself from Project 2025, there is a long list of his connections to it, which include many people who have similarly said that Trump plans to enact the policies if reelected. Russell Vought, a potential next chief of staff profiled by my colleague Isabela Dias, said in a secretly recorded meeting that Project 2025 is the real Trump plan and the distancing tactic was just campaign necessity.

Harris gave a great concession speech. Compare how she reacted after losing to how Trump did in 2020. No, both sides are not the same.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post
