  • I have been like a seer this general election. So many swishes. I have been bitching at fellow liberal friends ever since Biden announced he would run for reelection that this was a betrayal that would not end well. Biden created terrible karma for himself and his party. I said that God will afflict Biden with a plague. I was the first I know of to compare the Trump fist-pump post-assassination-attempt photo to the Iwo Jima memorial and said that the contrast to Biden would be fatal for democrats. I told my children on that day that Trump will soon appear with a bandaged ear that will become iconic.

I predict more black swans. This is 1968 redux, the first presidential election I remember well. I also predict Biden won't be the democratic nominee and a democrat, Kamala Harris, will be elected the next president.

    Biden, LET MY PEOPLE GO!

    Mark this for Swish!

We are all praying that your political predictions are more accurate than your conference realignment predictions.

I said Biden would be out by last weekend but it’s going to be this weekend and this time I’m going to be right.

                    • Sounds like the shooter's search history indicated he was looking various major political events for both Biden and Trump. It points to it being not partisan but kind of an eff the world move .

"The investigation remains in its early stages, officials caution. Still, in some ways, Crooks seems similar to the dozens of other young men who’ve wreaked havoc across the US with high-powered assault-style rifles in recent years. He had few close friends, he would often go shooting at a local firing range, and he didn’t seem to display strongly held views that would suggest a politically driven assassination, according to CNN interviews with law enforcement and a review of notes from a briefing to Congress.

In addition to the former president, Crooks had searched online about President Joe Biden and had photos on his phone of other prominent figures from both parties. He searched for the location of Trump’s rally as well as the upcoming Democratic National Convention, the briefing notes say, and discovered that Trump planned to appear just an hour’s drive away from his home in the Pittsburgh suburbs.

That suggests Crooks may have been looking to carry out a high-profile shooting, and the Trump event’s proximity and timing offered the most accessible opportunity, federal officials have speculated.

“Even though he didn’t get his primary target, the shooter was successful in a lot of ways because he got closer to doing something no one has done in decades,” one federal official told CNN, referring to the assassination of a presidential candidate.

It remains unclear if Crooks intended to carry out a much larger attack and started with Trump because that was the way to gain the most notoriety.

Crooks had also searched for information on another recent mass shooter who shot and killed four classmates at a Michigan high school in 2021. The web searches about that shooter, Ethan Crumbley, are consistent with what law enforcement officials have seen in other mass shooters who research people they wish to emulate, in part, as a way to form their own idea of how to do something bigger, the federal official said."

I've read elsewhere that they also found evidence (unshockingly) of the shooting looking for information on depression. It's not something a rational person does, but it doesn't equate the definition of be delusional.
My opinion with a lot of these spree shooter who aren't politically driven, and even a few who are, is that people can become so profoundly depressed and alienated that they disconnected from reality. It makes it easier for them to harm others, especially when it atypical for them:

Derealization is an alteration in the perception of the external world, causing those with the condition to perceive it as unreal, distant, distorted or in other words falsified. Other symptoms include feeling as if one's environment is lacking in spontaneity, emotional coloring, and depth.[1] It is a dissociative symptom that may appear in moments of severe stress.

                      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depersonalization

While they logically know others are the real, they weary from depression and estrangement and don't pushback against this type of disconnection and instead funnel the pain into anger.

Everyone will pay lip serve to better access to mental health, but then go on to not anything about it. The time to help these people is not when they jot down their targets and start reversing the event in their head.

No, Trump's favorite movie is definitely The Sum of All Fears. Just ask Charles Payne.... He made the connection:

Payne is a smart guy. Interesting that Ms. Sunshine, Trump's communications director, just laughs it off. Payback's a b*tch.
