And why wouldn’t he? Don’t tell me he doesn’t make over $125k a year side-gigging as a 3L? Tsk tsk lazy. He could learn a thing or two from some of the fb posts I’ve seen today from some serious badasses who pay their loans back and need everyone to know it…"I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! My 3L Harvard law school son in law qualifies. Thanks Biden!
Why does anyone pay tuition at Harvard anyway? They have over $40 billion in their endowment. That money should be taxed if it’s just sitting there not being spent

PORTLAND, OR — President Biden has recently announced that he will be canceling $10,000 in student loan debt for all borrowers who cannot pay for loans they were forced into against their will. Local man Anthony Harb has agreed to recount his gut-wrenching and harrowing story of how he was coerced at gunpoint below:
NEW YORK, NY — New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez showed her solidarity with Biden's move to use poor taxpayers' money to pay off wealthier Americans' student loan debt, donning a "Tax The Poor" dress and posing for pictures.
Canceling debts is popular! As it turns out, Americans love it when the consequences of their own poor choices are paid for by others. To give the people what they want, Biden has announced plans to cancel these other debts as well:
WASHINGTON, D.C. — On the heels of news that the Biden Administration is forgiving tens of thousands of dollars' worth of student loan debt, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi began pushing the White House to offer the same relief to Americans with outstanding bar tabs.
Biden To Forgive $10k In Student Loans -- In Unrelated News, Nation’s Colleges Raise Tuition By $10kCAMBRIDGE, MA — President Biden announced plans today to forgive $10,000 in student loan debt for anyone making less than $125k per year. In completely unrelated news, the nation's colleges and universities announced plans to immediately raise tuition by $10,000.
CAMBRIDGE, MA — Harvard University announced Friday that they have recruited U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren to teach a class on why college is so expensive. Warren, who still has senatorial duties, will be teaching the course on a part-time basis for a modest fee of $400,000 per semester.
We applaud you for stepping up and allowing the government to take your money and invest it in the education of complete strangers, just as good and faithful Christians should.
U.S. — A surprising new study found that the average lifetime earnings of graduates who have earned a gender studies degree rose sharply to $10,000 this week.

At least for Hahvahd undergrad, if your family's income is below $75k, there is no expected family contribution. They attend tuition-free.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

No, the problem isn’t the eligibility threshold, although that helps. A degree increases earnings throughout life, not just at a ping in time. A 3L student at Harvard doesn’t need their loans forgiven. They’ll make close to the threshold in their first coule years of working.Originally posted by Maximus View PostWould you have been ok with a lower eligibility threshold?
For every person that doesn't need it I'm sure there is someone who does
I think the best solution is to allow the debt to be discharged in bankruptcy. Loans would be more difficult to get, ut that might be a good thing, and people would have a way to discharge them if they needed to."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Definitely would have a cooling effect on going to college. Not sure if that is what we want.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

I'm not sure that's the case. Right now students know (or knew before all this loan forgiveness) that student loans didn't ever go away until they paid them off. If bankruptcy were a realistic option, more students might decide they were a good option to use. I wonder how many would rack up loans with the idea of a bankruptcy when they were through with school.Originally posted by Commando View Post

Yes, no doubt. I’m not sure that’s a bad thing. People would take loans seriously and colleges would have to become more affordable. You can also increase needs based pell grants.Originally posted by Commando View Post

But again, there are affordable options to obtain just as good of an education. Putting more money to trade schools and community college would be better as well. Electricians, plumbers, and other craftsman deserve help more than history majors."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Yes, folks should be encouraged to go to trade schools. The only people that need to go to college are doctors, lawyers, and engineers... well, accountants too.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

We have a huge problem in higher ed right now. The cost of a college education is going way up due to the proliferation of student loan programs. Because of all this easy money, tuition is way up and colleges are hiring tons of administrators/middle managers. And people going into six-figure debt for one of the degrees BFM listed is a huge financial mistake and yet another unintended consequence of the student loan system. We need to do some fundamental things to fix this, but putting a pause on loan payments and forgiving debt is the absolute worst thing we could do.Originally posted by Maximus View Post
