  • Biden/Harris: A Presidency for All Americans

OK, here is your Biden presidency thread. I figured if the last one contained Trump's official slogan, this one should contain Biden's official slogan.

Dammit Uncle Ted - stop lurking and start posting again. This is right in your wheelhouse!
"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
"It's no secret that the great American pastime is no longer baseball. Now it's sanctimony." -- Guy Periwinkle, The Nix.

I almost started this thread last week, but then remembered that I started the Trump one four years ago. Just like game threads, if BYU loses you don't start the next one due to the jinxing effect...so I decided to not start the Biden thread so as to not jinx the next four years. Let's hope my holding off leads to world peace.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Not thrilled hearing about all the executive orders the President plans to sign on the first day. I don't know that that is on Biden, but I think congress needs to be better at getting things through so that there are fewer things that come and go based on who is the President.

Biden needs to un-do the worst of Trump's EOs right away. Then I agree he needs to work with congress.

I'm absolutely thrilled about them. The Muslim Ban is a stain on our country that's gonna take some time to wash away.

Yeah, the only EO I have seen thus far that sounds really dumb is cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline construction.

This pipeline has been such a crazy political football that keeps getting tossed around. TransCanada is at a loss as to what to do, which is apparent given their recent proposals in how to change the plan to a zero emissions. I doubt this project ever gets finished, which is a huge win to the railroad industry but further puts the Canadian drillers in a bad position.

And that is the problem with EOs. There is no stability that people can move forward with, whether you're talking about Keystone or Dreamers.

I'm not necessarily against Biden undoing a bunch of bad policies, but the next president is likely to come in and re-implement them. They system isn't functioning well currently.

I don't foresee another alt-right administration populated with the likes of Stephen Miller and Jeff Sessions that would bring batshit white nationalist talking points to reality, but congress definitely has the opportunity to tie up a lot of these loose ends right now.

Kind of fitting that Trump spends the morning giving a speech praising himself while Biden starts his day in church attending mass. Biden even pushed back his first public appearance (walking to mass) until Trump finished his speech, which just shows the class that is coming back to the White House. So ready for this nightmare to be over and for Biden to be president.

The bar is set so low for Biden; be a decent human being and he’ll be given a pass for quite a while. Well, barring a pandemic or recession.

Oh boy. I just took a peek at the immigration proposal that Biden is going to send to Congress. Somebody check on Stephen Miller!

I'm glad Trump isn't there at the inauguration, but it is good to see that Pence showed up.

Yeah so whatever you do, don't compare this guy to Nixon, as he flies away in shame aboard Marine One...

There's something so stirring about watching the inauguration of a new president-- especially when the outgoing president did not want to go out. I didn't vote for Biden, and I won't likely support many of his policy objectives, but still, this ceremony is as close to sacred as anything the government does.

In this case, it also has the feel of a massive bowel movement, as we expunge some foul malignancy from our collective systems.
