I'm guessing you didn't read the article I posted- you seem to be allergic to reading thoughtful information, explanations of issues, and credible sources.

Seems irrelevant to asylum seekers... economic conditions is not one of the evaluation criteria:

Maybe helps an asylum seeker's case, I guess, by claiming they are also economically depressed but is not a valid reason by itself, it seems.

As for the economically depressed maybe we should be helping the homeless folks in this country first and maybe giving guns to the folks in these socialist countries like Venezuela (which has more oil reserves than other countries) so these poor folks can improve their economic condition. Note that the folks here were economically depressed by a dictator (king) at one time. People here didn't try to seek asylum in some other country to improve their economic condition. It required a revolution against the ruling government to change that.

That is the bare bones basics of asylum. Where there are political opinion elements, like from places like Cuba and Venezuela, a grant of asylum is way easier and not as legally complex. 'Membership in a particular social group' is a very litigious basis of a ton of asylum claims, the scope of which was purposely gutted by AGs Barr and Sessions, since Asylum seemed to be public enemy #1 of the Trump administration. You might be shocked about how meritorious a lot of asylum cases from the northern triangle countries were pre-Jeff Sessions. Dismissing asylum seekers in general (while certainly true among many) as merely seeking economic prosperity is disingenuous and extremely inaccurate.

I have a lot of clients that I know for a fact will not receive a grant. But not because they don't deserve it. Some of them, for example, were terrorized by the cartels, literally tortured, their families' lives threatened. But since they don't meet the strict elements of the statute under 'political opinion' and since the 'members of a particular social group' element (PSG) has been stripped by published caselaw from the Board of Immigration Appeals under the personal purview of Jeff Sessions, their claims will fail. But they will have a season to live and work here in the U.S. safe from their persecutors at least for a few years and that's all they can really ask for from a country whose people really don't care about helping others in need if they don't speak, act, or look the same as what they're used to.

As for Venezuelans-- they are more than 'economically depressed.' Most of them are denied health care, rations, or even safety because of their known political leanings. It's not a rumor or an exaggeration. It's a matter of survival to leave their country. And these are proud Venezuelans who love their country and were prosperous in their own fields-- forced to leave everything behind due to circumstances beyond their control. How facile and frankly evil to just tell them to 'stand and fight' just so we might not have to lift a finger to help. I have a Venezuelan client who is an engineer and his wife a pediatric dentist. He came here and is happy to work construction just to feel a sense of safety for his kids and to ensure their well-being. Does anybody believe these people are a burden besides ignorant bigots?

Maybe we should invade the country with the most oil reserves in the world and help these poor folks before the Harris Administration cancels internal combustion engines and replaces air transportation with electric trains so they can get some good money for their oil reserves before it's too late. Are you kidding me right now? According to you and the articles you post, (beginning to think you don't even read those either) that's the whole reason there is a 'border crisis,' because Biden is welcoming those asylum seekers back to apply for the benefits that were not availed to them under the previous administration.
