  • Sounds like you're playing great. For putting, just close your eyes and trust your inner chi on close putts.

I decided to take a week off and see if my back starightens out (literally). Not even playing tomorrow. In the downtime I've been thinking about my game. I'm none too happy with the trap draw the i20's trick me into. The trap draw is a beautiful shot when pulled off, but all too often it leaves me hanging right. I'm thinking of migrating to the G20's with a heavier bottom that will spin the ball more vertically instead of sideways. This way, I'll aim at the pin and not worry about anything else. I'm gonna stop by the Golfsmith today, and if they don't rip me off too bad, I might be changing clubs soon.

    • I have been swamped with things and haven't played much at all. But I did get out last weekend with my brother, brother-in-law, father and father-in-law with a few other friends. It was good times. For some reason I was pulling the ball all day. And when I really tried to get into a swing I even snap hooked a couple balls. It was incredibly frustrating. Still I had a few nice shots and managed a 92. Just enough to make me think that if I really invested time into this game I might be good.

        I threw down a 83 today for a net 65 and missed 4 putts under 4 feet.

That gives me a 4 shot lead after the first day.

On a side note I have traced the start of my downslide back to the round of golf I played with Donuthole in Vegas a few years ago. I started swinging harder and harder to try and hit it as far as that skinny bugger.

86 today. Still 4 shot lead, but second place is a ten handicap and I am a 18.
So I am really really 12 shots ahead. I shouldn't blow that lead tomorrow,

        • So I went to Golfsmith today to see about trading in the i20's for a set of G20's. The guy was real nice and said that they wouldn't give much for them because they get the new sets for $300, and they would only give me $225 for my clubs. He told me I could sell them all day for $600 online. Either craigslist or ebay.

So... if anybody here wants some 4 month old i20's for $500 plus shipping they're all yours. I paid $805. 8 clubs 4,5,6,7,8,9,w,u black dot, with the CFS Shaft (stiff). As a small business owner, I can take any CC to facilitate the transaction.

I think this is a fair/good deal for the right person. Otherwise, I'll just have to sell on ebay.

Very tempting. But Mrs D said I can't get new clubs until Christmas.

Pay now on a card, and you can open them for Christmas. The savings between Christmas retail clubs and these beauties could also buy a real nice present for your wife. As a lawyer, I sure you can figure out how to spin the circumstances to your benefit.

If someone wants to take them in the next few days, go ahead. I will need those days to check with my instructor to see what color dot would be good for me. Do they have graphite sharfts? I have to have graphite shafts.

If donut can negotiate with his wife and get clubs early, let him have them. If I want those type of clubs, I am can afford the $300 more than a young lawyer with a family. I am kind of getting into this spread the wealth thing.

It actually got close. I was only 6 shots up after 10 holes. Shot 42 on the front, but the closest guy to me shot a 37 and he is a 10 handicap. He parred 10 and I bogied.

He was just off of the par 5 11th in 4 and I was just off in 3. I sunk my putt off the green for birdie and he two putted for a six. It was over. He folded coming down the stretch and my lead finished at 10.

Not much goes with it. $75 in prize money. The gross champ gets a nice parking spot for a year.

Congrats.... You should give the $75 to "Friends of Scouting." Or to the "Battered Husbands Shelter - Las Vegas Branch."

                    • I need to get my driver issues fixed. I shot a 91 on Saturday and couldn't be less happy with it. I hit a single (yes, 1) fairway. Slicing right all day. I have 100% given up on my r11 (I can't even keep that thing in play, much less the fairway), and I'm now hitting my old r7 way right as well. Not only am I losing the ball into the rough or the rocks to the right of the rough, but I'm also losing 35-40 yards in distance.

Saturday I had an average putting day (32 putts) an average irons day, and hit my wedges really well. If I remove the 10 (1) total strokes for chipping/dropping out of the junk, I have a pretty decent round going.

I will say this: golf is much, much less enjoyable when you step onto every tee box and have no effing idea where you're going to hit the ball. The worst thing is that I just don't have the time to dedicate to fixing it. As I've only broken 90 a few times in my last dozen rounds, I think it's safe to say I'm officially a bogey golfer.

                        Wouldn't 90 be double bogey?

                            • While I was out this afternoon, I stopped by Golfsmith and hit some balls with these babies. I guess I'll give a playing report tomorrow. I guess I'll keep the i20's, as I can justify them by needing an extra set of clubs for visitors. Both my boy's love the i20's, and this way they don't have to tote their sticks with them when they come home.

                              • I'm flying home after a great day of golf at the Del Mar Country Club. My host was, as usual, overly generous, paying for everything, and throwing in a dozen Titleists and a Suunto G6 as gifts. I have no idea if the G6 is a good thing. I parred the first two and last two holes, but everything in between was a horror story and I finished with a 99. Still, a fine day and I managed to avoid a couple of disturbing threads...
