  • Just shot an 83. I actually didn't play that well but my wedges inside 100 were on fire. Today was probably the best I have ever chipped, too bad many of them were for pars or bogeys not birdies. Of course this means I will be blading and chili dipping everything on Friday

That is actually not the case with me, though I have a golf buddy who is in that same situation. My "personal reason" was work-related. I had depo which was moved up an hour despite my protests.

I'm very grateful for a wife who respects my personal time. In turn, I don't bother her when Bunko runs long (like it always does) or when she goes shopping for hours on end. It works out nicely.

      • I picked up a box of Top Flite Gamer V2 balls yesterday for my round today. I'm going to have to disagree with clackamas on this one; those things are garbage. They feel to me just like any other Top Flite ball--hard as a rock and little to no spin whatsoever. They didn't perform well from 100 yards (case in point, i hit a sand wedge from 110 into a green on a short par 4. Perfect decending blow, hands ahead of the club face, nice launch trajectory, and right at the pin. It landed about 10 feet past the hole and then released another 10 feet. If I had even been hitting a Titlest Pro V1, I know it would have stopped and possibly backed up a foot or two. Hell, even a Noodle would have been more responsive.) and they didn't preform well around the greens (I hit a number of short chips that didn't check up at all, where they normally would have).

I'm going to give them another go, since the course conditions today were not ideal (also, becuase I have 12 of them to use), but I have my doubts. Based on today, I think I prefer Pinnacles and Noodles to the Gamer as cheap ball options.

Sorry I did not mean to infer your wife was like that. He just always drops the personal reason lines. He gets me on free at Thanksgiving Pointe all the time yet I always seem to finish the last 9 holes alone.

In fact he very rarely finishes a full 18 with me.

I sign up for their newsletter. Golfetail.com and golfio.com are my two favorite sites. Golfetail usually emails a coupon once or twice a week for different golf products. Some coupons are better than others and typically are only good for the day for the screaming deals. Golfio has a countdown deal that usually runs every 24-48 hours. Kind of like Whiskey Militia, Steepandcheap, Bonktown, etc. They have a golf product for a ridiculous price and they sell them until they're gone or time has expired. That's how I got my Odyssey White Hot putter for $49.99.

3balls.com is decent for new and used stuff. Rockbottomgolf.com as well. And occasionally Mortongolfsales.com has some screaming deals. They had Titelist AP1 irons (4-PW, GW) for sale there this Spring for $399.99 shipped.

Those are some of my favorite sites. I visit golfio.com daily. A lot of these places are hit and miss, because when the discounts get really steep they usually only have a few on hand left and are looking to clear inventory. I was looking at an Adams Speedline driver awhile back. Found an awesome deal with the setup, shaft, loft and everything I wanted. But of course I had to check everywhere else to see if I could do better. And before I pulled the trigger they sold out.

Golfclubswarehouse.com is another site that deals a lot in complete matched sets. Callaway irons, woods, driver, putter, cart bag, etc. You have to look at the set carefully because sometimes they'll throw in something like Big Bertha irons, with Diablo woods. So you're thinking you're getting Diablo everything but you're not. But they have some deals there from time to time.

Really I am just cheap and am always looking to get the best deal. Everyone in my family always asks me to find them deals.

Do you know where I can find a good deal on a weight bench?

ldc never calls me when I am playing golf, but I always make assurances to be home at a time that cuts it close. Then I am stressed and under pressure the last couple holes. For example last week I went with a friend from my ward we had an 11:15 tee. ldc asked what time I would be home, because she needed to take something somewhere and wanted to know if she should ask her mom to watch the kids. I said no I will be home by 4:00 easy. Well of course we were wrapping up 18 at like 3:55 and I was frustrated, though when I called her and said 4:30 she was less annoyed than I was.

I do it to myself, maybe it is some kind of subconscious sabotage?

Surfah, what are the specs on the speedline you are looking for? I have one I am not using and could let go. I played maybe 5 rounds with it and went back to my Ping G5.

According to the Book of Mormon, the Top Flite Gamer ball is True.

                        A compilation of 1st Nephi 16:30 and Mormon 5:7
And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did go forth up into the Top of the mountain, according to the directions which were given upon the ball. And it came to pass that we did again take to flight, and those whose top flight was swifter than the Lamanites’ did escape, and those whose played a Pro V1 did not exceed the Lamanites’ were swept down and destroyed.

(Really lame but too much work into it to abandon it now)

                        • Golfio.com is having a pre-Labor Day Weekend sale.

Here's a link to the sale items:

                          http://www.golfio.com/discount-golf-closeouts/87.html

Add to cart for an additional discount. I just added a Callaway FT-9 Draw, 9 degree driver with a Fujikara Z-Com 60 Graphite stiff shaft and the price was $199.99. After adding to cart it was $179.99.

It was the 9032LS. I have no funds right now for golf clubs. Gidget said if I can get to my goal weight 230 and stay there for 3 months I can get new clubs. So I am working towards that. I just surf for deals because I like enjoy the pain.
