  • I watched LIV golf on YouTube the last two days - seeing how it was here in Portland - and it was really compelling - more so than a regular tourney.

    • Clack with an awful take. It must be a day of the week.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

        • Top 3 spots earned exemptions into the Open. What’s more compelling than 8 guys within a stroke of each other playing a back nine with two reachable par 5s and a drivable par 4, all for a spot in the Open Championship? Any true fan of the game understands that’s way more compelling than a bunch of guys playing for blood money.

          • Pat Perez shot an 80 in the final day and still won millions because his “teammates” didn’t suck.

Everyone knows the big names don’t play the John Deere. They are all across the pond getting ready for The Open. Instagram has tons of pictures of Tiger, Rory, JT, and others playing courses in Ireland in sweaters and vests. Getting acclimated.

I'll never watch an LIV event, and it disappoints me how so many golfers are so casually indifferent to the unseemliness of their new benefactors. I don't believe in signs of the time, but this is a sign of the times.

                • Spent the afternoon playing Olympic under extraordinary conditions: temps in the high 60s, gentle breeze, blue skies with scattered clouds, AND essentially had the course to ourselves (maybe a half dozen golfers a few holes away). I've played Olympic many times, but today was the best I've seen it, although I only managed an 88, due to spending too much time shoveling sand. The last time I played there I lost at least six balls in the rough (it was a few days before the Women's U.S. Open). Didn't lose a ball today thanks to much shorter rough. Took our time, had some nice eats, and still got around in under 3 1/2 hours, the way golf should be played.

I'm jealous, but I'm not sure my game is worthy of Olympic. The only fancy course I've played in Northern California is Silverado. I was a last minute substitute at a tournament for hospital administrators. My home teacher was a hospital administrator. If you've played Olympic several times, I'm guessing you've played Silverado.

                    • Bought my husband a $300 putter for his birthday. Was dubious about the purchase, as his foot is still in a boot from his achilles tendon reconstruction, and can he really get a feel for the club as off balanced as he is right now?

                        What's the putter.

$300 is Scotty Cameron range. A lot of the newer boutique brands (Evnroll, Edsel, SIK) are in the $400+ range. Then the stupidly named LA Golf putters is in its own stratosphere -$800-$1500

Bro, $300 is Odyssey range these days. Pretty sure Scotty is not outdone by the Evenrolls of the world and is solidly in the $400 range.

This is my unused bag. I haven’t shopped for a Scotty in years, so I’m sure the price has gone up since the last one I bought.

                              • I will sell and trade sets of clubs - but I keep every putter I've ever bought or at least my kids have them. I did have a BeCu Ping Pal 6 stolen out of my bag though. That was 30 years ago - and I'm still mad about it. I still have the Bullseye 35 A I bought in the fall of 1977 at Cascade while at BYU - along with my Bullseye Flange Scotty Cameron I bought in 1982. I use it to open and close the high windows in my bedroom - works like a champ.
