        • 1. Tiger Woods. He just won last week at Bay Hill, mebbe he's back, mebbe he's not. But his knowledge of Augusta is superb, and I'd never count him out.

          2. Phil Mickelson. Never been a big Phil fan, but he's got 2 green jackets, and seems relatively healthy lately. My goal this year is to watch without a single comment about "moobs."

          3. Rory McElroy. He's vowed never to let a lead slip like that again, so he may have an extra chip on his shoulder to win. This year he has a little more experience with the pressure, too. In the top 3 this year, he should be especially prepared.

          4. Luke Donald. Yeah, I know, how does a small baller do well on the long fairways of Augusta? Luke plays like a girl: short ball drops down the center of the fairway. Plip, plip, plip. But, his putting is ace, which help when the greens are glass. He may just sneak into contention.

          5. Keegan Bradley. He's the anti-Donald. Tremendous length, short irons to the green. If the weather is great- no monsoons and no wind, I'll bet on Bradley.

          • I'll get my picks in later. However, one thing that I always forget until I start watching the Masters is how disappointing the 18th hole is. I realize the purists will defame me for criticizing the Hallowed Ground, but Holly really is a let down.. No water; difficult to birdie; not a particularly visually stunning hole. I love the Masters, but I wish it had a better 18th hole, especially considering it is the hole replayed over and over in the event of a tie.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Johnny M. in this last Golf Digest mentioned the same thing. He thought they should move it into a lower area.

Curses! Webb Simpson was my sleeper, I was sure nobody else would pick him.

He's been flying under the radar this year but he's about due for a win.

                      • I might be wrong, but I think 71's willing to take side bets.

I like some of the picks going on here.

Kucher - He's a good pick, that has a great chance. Just 18 months ago he was the Fedex Champ.
Webb - A great dark horse pick.
Bill Haas - Fedex Cup winner - Winner this year - he's getting little respect here. He's got a good shot.
Angel Cabrera - He seems to be always be on the leader board come Sunday. Augusta just seems to fit his game.
Jason Day - I think he'll be the next under 30 to win a major. Maybe even this week.
Bubba Watson - Personally I like him, but with a new baby, his routine has to be in complete free fall right now. I think he'll win a major, but not this week.

                        Interesting omissions -

                        Steve Stricker. Nobody has him.
Ben Crane from Portland, OR. He's as good as anyone on the above list.
Lee Westwood - Is he the Rodney Dangerfield of Golfers? Personally, I don't respect him.

WEATHER UPDATE: Heavy rains are going to take the short hitters out of the running.

                        _______________________________________________

HFNW - No... They're not here yet. Ordered them March 9, and I keep getting the runaround from Golf Smith as to the status and estimated delivery date. PING must have gotten slammed with orders. It's been raining anyway, so it's not like I'm burning daylight. My new belly putter is going to save me 2 shots a round - its really awesome.

                          • Played the back 9 at riverside (13, 14 and 15 twice). Can't tell you what I shot as I was just warming up for the year.

                            • What a great day. Course was in great shape. No wind and in the 70's. I really hit the ball well, but still shot a 86. 4 doulbe bogeys and a missed easy birdie putt didn't help.

Everyone who posts in this thread loves golf, so feel free to go into detail about your individual rounds. In the past I've learned a great deal about my game from a post round recitation, and comparing details from round to round. After writing things down, you'll notice trends and problems that you can correct. This place is as good as any for recording the good bad and ugly about your golf game.

Is the new clubhouse finished yet? How's it look? My BIL is a 45 year member at Riverside, and a former Club Champion.
