Looks like changes were made to address the Church's concerns an the rule went into effect today:

    It's a good thing.

As part of the hate for all things "LDS," the rumor mill has started that LDSAccess and its password is being retired in favor of a wifi SSID "Liahona." Anyone in a stake where this is happening?

Not yet - but that doesn't mean it won't.

I like the increase in transparency.

On Thursday, General Authorities and General Officers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were introduced to a new handbook for all leaders and members.

                  That is great.

BTW, the old handbook 2 wasn't that interesting. Not exactly sure why it wasn't public.

I think it is probably because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints often does weird things for no reason.

I think you mean handbook 1. and I agree with you on both counts.

                        Whoops. Yes, handbook 1.

Ha. The first time I had a calling that gave me access to Handbook 1 (this was before it was on the internet. In fact, this was before there was an internet) I plowed through it in one sitting because I was certain there must be something --SOMETHING-- that justified it being kept private. Much like my lingering apprehension when attending the temple the first time, my enthusiasm disappeared into a puddle of disappointment and quotidian ennui.
                          PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I like that too, except now I'll be responsible to understand all the written rules. Up until now I could plead ignorance. There have been a few times that something surprised me from Handbook 1. I can't remember all of them, but the last one was not too long ago when someone said you were supposed to counsel with your priesthood leader when considering a vasectomy (unless that was just a rumor?) Well how was I supposed to ever know that?

I suppose you could say they're more guidelines than rules.

The only thing I thought would not be good for public consumption was the limits given to Bishops and SPs on welfare. That and the super secret process of naming a new ward. Not everyone could handle such things.

Good thing I was never in a calling providing access. I am not ready for that level of information.
