I'm unsure how this makes a difference. Unless Iron Mountain Public School District has a mandatory "Why Blackface is a Really Fetching Bad Idea" course, it's culture, not educational systems, that are at play here.

I think anybody who has known queer members of the Church. Unfortunately, we don't really make it easy for LGBTQs to remain active.

Yeah, I remember hearing something before. I really feel for him and others in his situation. And I know other people just like him. The part of that article that just breaks my heart is this:

I just can't comprehend how anyone, regardless of how sheltered they are, wouldn't know how off limits blackface is. Is it possible we have reached a point where no one talks about blackface because it's rare?

I was 7 when I watched this and it was so seared into my brain that it's what I think about when blackface is mentioned.

I saw this play out for almost 2 decades with a family member until he stopped believing what the church told him. I suppose his eternal salvation is now in doubt, but there is no question his mental health is better outside of the church.
