“I thought the value of the manuscript exceeded $100 million, and the LDS Church got a good value,” Hajicek said.
Of course, not as good of a deal as they could have made back when it was acquired by the Community of Christ for $2500 and the LDS church passed on the bidding back then.
The church may not want this Hajicek guy being the one making offers on Joseph and Hyrum's graves or the Kirkland temple.

      • RC isn't the only one to mix up Kirtland and Kirkland. The church's own manual's appear to have that same mistake in some places:

I have the same problem with guys named Kurt or Kirk. I hope others have the same problem and they get called the wrong name all the time.

Idiots, they should call it a modest living allowance.

I join you in that disappointment, whether it was actually a group of "generous donors" or that was just a euphemism for "tithe payers".

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I assume it's the amount, right?
The printer's manuscript is the closest thing the church has to a 'divine' relic. It's got to be pretty faith-promoting, and I'm sure it will be a hit at the church museum. So I can totally see why the church would spend a lot to get it.

35 million is a lot though...
