Whoa. Her recent twitter feed is really bad. I know we talked about her before. But was she as openly racist back then as she is now?"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

Yeah, if I were her ecclesiastical leader I'd at the very least ask her to change the name of her twitter handle so it makes no reference at all to the church. Being racist isn't grounds for excommunication, but it for sure is sinful.Originally posted by Walter Sobchak View PostI'm still trying to figure out why the Brethren haven't shut down this site yet.

That profile is funny. What is a "theology scholar"? What is an "international studies certificate"? Where would one get a master's degree in "women's spirituality"?

Except she goes beyond just racism and states that racism is official church doctrine. It seems like they are either going to have to initiate her court of love, or it will be an acknowledgement that they pick and choose what apostasy can be advocated for.Originally posted by Moliere View PostYeah, if I were her ecclesiastical leader I'd at the very least ask her to change the name of her twitter handle so it makes no reference at all to the church. One of my favorite forms on outrage porn on social media is exmo's/progmo's complaining when someone is not excommunicated. Funny."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Not that I expect you to ever engage in discussion, but what type of message do you think it sends to initiate excommunication against women's ordination, gay marriage, polygamy advocates, but ignore people who are teaching racism as LDS Church doctrine.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostOne of my favorite forms on outrage porn on social media is exmo's/progmo's complaining when someone is not excommunicated. So we can add racists and white nationalists to the list of people that are treated better than homosexuals?

Do you have some good data on the percentage of LDS homosexuals, racists, white nationals, polygamy advocates, women's ordination advocates, etc, that are excommunicated that you can share? You must have something like that to reach the conclusion implied in your last question.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostNot that I expect you to ever engage in discussion, but what type of message do you think it sends to initiate excommunication against women's ordination, gay marriage, polygamy advocates, but ignore people who are teaching racism as LDS Church doctrine.

Entering into a homosexual marriage is immediate excommunication. Racists and white nationalist can marry, as long as it is opposite sex without excommunication. Gonna go out of a limb and say that racists are more welcome than homosexuals and treated better.Originally posted by jay santos View PostDo you have some good data on the percentage of LDS homosexuals, racists, white nationals, polygamy advocates, women's ordination advocates, etc, that are excommunicated that you can share? First of all, to extrapolate that the church ignores such things or doesn't care because they don't excommunicate THIS PARTICULAR PERSON RIGHT NOW is dumb. And applying the transitive property in such cases is dumb.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostNot that I expect you to ever engage in discussion, but what type of message do you think it sends to initiate excommunication against women's ordination, gay marriage, polygamy advocates, but ignore people who are teaching racism as LDS Church doctrine.

Second, complaints about lack of consistency ("leadership roulette!") always make me scratch my head. The church is a collection of humans, each with a wide variety of backgrounds, personalities, inclinations, temperaments, etc. Of course there is going to be a variety of outcomes and decisions. Furthermore, what is fair or consistent or right is a subjective thing. If you are outraged when the universe doesn't bend to your personal notion of consistency, then you have a long miserable life in front of you."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right?
