Totally. Just like Roe v.Wade. I mean who even cares about abortion anymore? I can't think of the last time a politician had to deal with that issue.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostI want someone to take this case to the Supreme Court and let's be done with all this shit. Let the high court rule and then we all fall in line, just like other stuff.

Now, after the denigration comes the counsel ... thank you, you're right I should know better than to have an opinion, be it popular or unpopular, and point out an obvious absurdity! I wouldn't want to be told I'm in the minority -- gosh, that would really rattle my self esteem.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Posttooblue, there is no argument with which to contend. Currently, there are 5 people participating in this thread. Nobody seems to agree with you that Cardiac was advocating against democracy. You are the only one that walked away with that take.
You may want to rethink your interpretation. Then again, I think it is more comfortable for you to NOT rethink your position. Easier to dig in your heels.
We all know it's more important to be popular and liked than it is to have a real opinion. Maybe I can improve the delivery of my one liners -- you think you can help?

You know what he was talking about. He was talking about decisions like Dred Scott.Originally posted by YOhio View PostTotally. Just like Roe v.Wade. I mean who even cares about abortion anymore? I can't think of the last time a politician had to deal with that issue.
When was the last time you heard two Presidential candidates talk about the worth of a slave or a slave's standing to sue in federal court?

This is crazy, tooblue.Originally posted by tooblue View PostCardiac ridiculed people for exercising their democratic rights. I am defending their right to vote and spend money in the face of the ridicule. What's hard to understand is your premature and judgmental attitude.
Of course I think people have the right to give money to whatever cause they want and vote however they see fit on this issue. I missed the part where I was advocating for a pro-gay totalitarian government in this country.
The article makes it pretty clear that if even Governor Huntsman, a Mormon with an 84% approval rating in Utah, is in favor of gay civil unions (essentially the equivalent of gay marriage) that it is clear what side is prevailing here.
With many members of the Church losing their jobs, losing their retirement savings, and other Church members living in poverty, does it really make sense that the Church was asking its members to give large sums of money and time to a clearly doomed political effort?Last edited by CardiacCoug; 04-19-2009, 07:37 PM.

I was thinking more about biracial marriage no longer being an issue. I think the relationship between biracial and homosexual marriage is an easier assumption than homosexual marriage and abortion. Am I wrong?Originally posted by YOhio View PostTotally. Just like Roe v.Wade. I mean who even cares about abortion anymore? It's not crazy. You did and continue to insinuate that these people are stupid as is evidence in your last paragraph. In a democracy people have a right to make good or bad decisions. You ridiculed people who spent money in support of prop 8. I stated I think your ridicule is stupid. Others here have called me a bigot, without any evidence to support the accusation. This entire thread is an absurdity.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostThis is crazy, tooblue.

You have now disagreed with the author of the post, as well.
For the third time, tooblue's unique brand of logic serves as a metaphor for the dying, losing battle that is anti-gay rights legislation.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I can't see how the churches actions were an act if biggotry. Of course I am not an intellectual elitist who feels I know more than someone who happens to disagree with me. I think there is a good argument that the church did choose to spend their funds unwisely.

Again, I support and defend the right of people to vote against gay marriage and give money to fight gay marriage. You're making some bizarre leap in logic here with your assertion that I am somehow against democracy.
