Must have been instituted after I left. I'm positive no stake I've been a member of has ever had an adult session.

    • Despite the very Freudian title "adult only session" I actually enjoy it more than any other stake conference meeting (which is not a high bar). It's mostly because I'm not trying to deal with kids for two hours but also because ours is usually dominated by new converts or newly reactivated members. I enjoy those talks much more than stake leadership talks.

Also, we usually hit a restaurant I the way home.

My experience with over hyped church meetings is documented in here somewhere. No church meeting can live up to any hype so be prepared to be disappointed no matter what.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I've never been in a stake without it. Do you have a Saturday evening session at all?

I'm positive you are wrong. The adult session is part of the church official stake conference agenda. I wish you were right. It would be one less meeting I feel guilty about blowing off.

The topic is given by the First Presidency instead of the Stake.

The last time something was this hyped it ended up being that underwhelming church announcement that missionaries could now start using Facebook. After all the hype that was probably the most disappointing moment in my church life. People kept building it up to be historic! So pardon me if I'm not buying it again any time soon. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Anyone have a recent Stake conference who can shed some light on what the topic will be for our adult session of Stake Conference? I'm going to go no matter what, but I would like to set the proper level of expectation.
The same is true in our stake in two weeks, all people over 12 are aupposed to go. I've been to 1 adult session, it was boring.

            • We had ward conference and it was pretty good. We had a stake speaker female who was in tears giving her talk. In the back row was a family that I know and love and their 16 year old boy crazy daughter who brought her new non member b/f. During this emotional crying talk these two love birds were laughing and talking and totally oblivious to the world around them. It was like a scene from a movie or a music video. She had a short skirt on and was proud of her young long legs and he was all too happy to be the jokster with his hot honey. I almost left the stand and went to the back to ask them to quiet down but thankfully I did not. Its kind of funny now but when it was happening I was mortified.

I'm telling you both you are wrong. No stake that I have ever been in has had a Saturday evening session. I don't know how many times I need to make that clear to you both.

Lol. I was in your branch at one time. We had the session then. Twice a year. That still happens. And I think we grew up in the same stake. I moved to F-town in 1982. I remember my parents going when I was little. It was a free night of TV.

They always just call it the Adult Session in our ward/stake and I'm so immature I can't ever hear that without thinking about the word adult as a euphemism for porn.

                          • I've only been to stake conference twice in my life. The first time was when I was made an elder, the second was when the stake was reorganizing. I don't understand why anyone would go willingly.

We have about 6-7 couples and we have a tradition of either going to a restaurant or going to someone's home after the Saturday session and enjoying some food and conversation. It is fun.

My wife gave a talk in our fall stake conference (adult session) about service missions that people are still talking about. She really hit it out of the park.
