When I was clerk I always counted during the rest hymn.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Well, two out of three, at least.

        Isn't that standard practice?

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Is it? I don't know, I just used it as the most effective way to get the highest count. I also went throughout the building looking for kids and others to get our count as high as possible. wap is correct, numbers are important.

At F&T mtg, with no rest hymn, I would wait until about 15 minutes left and get up to do the count. I bet lots of folks thought, "Oh, bro myboynoah is finally going to bury his testimony." Hopefully they weren't dissapointed.

Any good Sacrament attendance counter has already accounted for the people who will come in late.

I just added a statistical constant based on historical averages and time of sacrament meeting.

Today was a real doozy in church. Among other things, I learned that the most important things to make a strong family (nobody defined what this means, by the way) are as follows:
              • Making sure my sons always wear white shirts. This way they won't be uncomfortable in them when they go on a mission (which of course is the biggest factor)
              • Saying "when you go on a mission" is the most important thing I can do, because if I say "if you go on a mission" they probably won't go
              • Youth not going to wednesday Mutual activities is a sign of a bad family and must be remedied
              • Men trying to justify patriarchy is very funny

My wife single-handedly kept me in the meeting today by raising her hand and saying this was all a load of crap if we didn't love our children and why don't we talk about that instead.

              • Spent my sabbath day contemplating Patriarchs, a Cathedral, two Temples, and where Angels might Land in Zion National Park.

My less religious wife preferred watching some desert bighorn try to navigate a Checkerboard.

That's pretty much the best church ever.

                  • I skipped out on church today, a more frequent occurrence, but I spoke with almost every member of my family, who is in country and coherent.

I contemplated the universe, made my body a little fitter, and read plenty of posts on various message boards, reviewed a little scripture, and planned out the week.

Sometimes sitting in a ward with families is not that comforting, knowing my future family is thousands of miles away. Formal religious observance seems to be very communal, and when one is disconnected from the community, it almost feels alienating to partake.

Too bad you weren't righteous enough to be foreordained to be the head of the BSA. You'd be rolling in that FoS money.

I was probably a fence leaner.

                              • As you may recall, I have been quite cynical of the whole "trek" fad. Our ward did it a couple of weeks ago and today we had a 5th Sunday meeting consisting of youth and leaders sharing thoughts and insights gained from the experience. It was a great meeting. I hereby eat crow.
