Finally! I was getting sick of being the lone Ogden defender in this thread.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

For some reason it always reminds me of the Ivory Tower in The Neverending Story.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostThe DC temple is pretty. It also happens to borrow a design language from fantasy fiction rather than anything historical. This is a building that would be more at home in Middle Earth than DC.

Crap! I did miss that. My apologies, happyone. As I previously stated, I wish that I had been able to convince my wife to have our sealing in the Ogden Temple, and for exactly the reasons you mentioned.Originally posted by happyone View PostYou must have missed my contributionPrepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

I posted my theory back in post 59. I had always heard it was the cloud by day/pillar by night.Originally posted by fusnik View PostLDS urban myth question...Has anyone else heard that the design of the Ogden and Provo temples was inspired in part by a dream of an apostle about temples in the millenium. Heard that in the MTC.
In the MTC, the two most popular ones I heard:
1. The MTC president is driving by the MTC "late at night" and sees all kinds of devils trying to get in....angels are fighting them to keep them out.
2. Someone calls Provo Temple president in the middle of the night to tell him that a light is on in the Provo temple (not even sure which light is visible from the outside of the provo temple). The temple president instructs the caller to let it go. The Savior is inside the Provo temple and he is not to be disturbed.
Those kind of FPS really fueled my tank as a young missionary. I ate that stuff up. Don't get me started on shoe dusting stories. Those were always fun.
Anyway, back to the Mayan Temple discussion!Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Although accourding to my parents who have worked there for 15 yrs, one of the reasons they redid the grounds a few years ago was to "increase marriage traffic".

With this redesign the Boise temple may move right to the bottom of pleasant looking temples. It's right off the highway and it looks like a large stake center.

It has a lot of company. The six-spire design was en vogue for a good 6-7 years, it seems. At least it doesn't have a black roof like the Vegas temple.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostWith this redesign the Boise temple may move right to the bottom of pleasant looking temples. That kind of crap fueled me also. So...question. Knowing this sort of stuff is crap, and that there's a lot of it. But also knowing that crap in a lot of ways was instrumental in helping you grow up, mature, be a successful missionary, be a more responsible than avg kid...knowing that, do you steer you children away from it or do you allow them to go through it the same as you did? Question for all to answer.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI posted my theory back in post 59. I had always heard it was the cloud by day/pillar by night.

Is it corrugated steel as well? That seems like such an industrial texture for a temple.Originally posted by falafel View PostChicago's the same, with the same black roof. At the Vegas temple do they also pump oxygen into the building and make it difficult to find the exit.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostIt has a lot of company. The six-spire design was en vogue for a good 6-7 years, it seems. At least it doesn't have a black roof like the Vegas temple.

Just think of the architectural opportunities that were missed with that temple.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostIt has a lot of company.
