Not just the pork; the brisket was on there too. Of course that is a topic for another thread lest I tip Brother DH over.Originally posted by All-American View PostFun fact: the first set of stone tablets Moses had was actually the dude’s pulled pork recipe.
Love that stuff. So many good things you can do with it, too.

I picked up a pair of pork butts at Costco to smoke 2 weeks ago and it was bone in. First time for me. Nice not worrying about the flappy meat.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postfirst, our costco sells a 2pk bone-in shoulder. is this rare?
second, i have a firm testimony in lebowski's pulled pork recipe. truly idiot proof, and i get to take credit for something that's delicious and cheap.

Thanks. I had seen the link but forgot about it. I have started to slow cook/smoke on a gas grill (blasphemy I know) so I am actually paying some more attention to this thread. I did a beef loin roast a few weeks ago that the family loved and will post more as I do more.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View Postthis is his blog https://thebbqdude.com/“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

I stated four bone-in shoulders from Costco last night. They are still purring away. I did one thing different though. I left them in thier shrink wrap and injected through it. It did a pretty good job of keeping the juice inside while I prepared the smoker and rub.

Definitely different. But that shrink wrap is going to melt when you cook them, and it will make the meat taste like plastic. Just a hunch. On the upside, when it melts, it will expose the meat to the smoke.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

I only had the shrink wrap on for the injection and then left them took them out when it was time to rub. Cook took twenty-one hours and all four were perfect. In fact, they are among the best I've ever smoked.
I usually concoct my own rubs and injections. However, this time I stopped by BBQ Pitstop and grabbed some off the shelf products. They were as good or better than the stuff I make and it reduces the prep time/mess significantly.

I hope you mean a layer of sauce on top right before you eat it and not a big pot of shredded red goo.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postfavorite sauce for the crowd that likes their pulled pork sauced?
My favorite sauce is Tennessee Red. I also like Traeger’s Traeger-que and Sweet and Heat sauces."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
