Egg Nog

Does anyone sell it year round? I buy it as soon as it is on sell and keep buying it well past Christmas. Once I thought I bought egg nog that turned out to be egg yolk used for cooking. Gross. Nice to be able to learn how to make is so I can drink it year round.

Not sure, but I definitely love it this time of year! Just bought the 1% at trader joes for the first time and I'm loving it. The standard one is just a bit too thick.

Can't stand the stuff. I don't mind it as a flavor, like egg nog french toast, but it is nasty as a beverage.

I actually prefer Silk Nog to the real thing. It's less thick and has way less calories than the real stuff.

I have never had Eggnog with rum/bourbon/brandy but I am assuming that is a critical piece of the way it is supposed to taste.

Rum does nothing for it. I can't speak to the other two.

Sidenote. In Spanish, Rum=ron. egg nog = rompope

When a nasal consonant like the [n] on 'ron' comes before a bilabial occlusive like the [p] in "pope" then the [n] morphs into an [m] due to the lips shutting off the flow of air through the mouth, forcing it out the nose. So, eggnog in Spanish basically means "rum punch."

I really like eggnog, but only want it around during the holidays. Having it available year round would certainly make me not like it. Too much of a good thing.

I always wonder how the seasonality of some of these food items impacts their overall sales. Do they make more by limiting how much is sold during the year because there's a certain exclusivity element there? Or would they stand to make more by producing the whole year but limit it for some other reason?

You can always just buy the standard stuff and "water it down" with skim, 1%, etc. milk.

I don't like egg nog served neat. I like it mixed into milk like you would Hershey's syrup or something like that.

Danimal makes homemade egg nog every year. It's a danimal family tradition. For the first time ever, we will be making an adult batch and a kid batch. Wish y'all could join us.

I grew up drinking the store bought stuff. I like that too, but the fresh stuff is amazing. It's hard to imagine not liking it.
