For starters, eggnog is 25% raw egg. The rest is milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI have had homemade....I have found it to be hit and miss (like most foods).

I repeat, one-fourth of what you're drinking is a raw, unborn chicken.

Sure, but the dairy stuff uses pasteruized eggs. ALso, they really arent unborn chickens, as they aren't fertilized. Who would want lumpy egg nog?Originally posted by Fiyero View PostFor starters, eggnog is 25% raw egg. The rest is milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

I have actually been wondering about the percentage of egg in there. The bottle of egg nog currently in my fridge lists the ingredients as: whole milk, cream, milk, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, sugar, and then egg and seasoning. In that iteration, there's no way the egg can be 25%.Originally posted by Fiyero View PostFor starters, eggnog is 25% raw egg. The rest is milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Yes, I repeated that from memory; I contemplate these ingredients each time I'm enjoying the nog.

Isn't that akin to saying it couldn't be egg nog if Eggland's Best eggs were used? Or if the milk used a newfangled homogenization process? Maybe I'm not enough of a sugar snob to understand the difference between sugar and sugar.Originally posted by Space GhostAny "egg nog" that includes HCFS in the ingredient list is not real egg nog. This recipe from the creepy guy from The Food Network has a little less than 25% raw egg.
